National Women’s Soccer League

We go to Racing Louisville FC games and they’re pretty fun. And usually have a good crowd.

Will there not be a game on Sunday night somewhere? Sunday is a travel day. I always enjoyed turning on a game Sunday night relaxing getting ready for my work week.

Wnba games have better ratings than the NHL

Caitlin Clark is more popular than any player from hockey or baseball not named Ohtani. Espn gets to promote her more often on her own time slot now

pretty sure this is a sign that Sunday Night Baseball was already not getting any ratings

To say they are burying themselves is an understatement. They will be killing a program on the rise that was doing better numbers than the WNBA.

Sunday Night Baseball actually saw its best year ratings-wise in 8 years, last season, lol.

quote:

In 2025, ESPN’s Sunday Night Baseball experienced its most-watched season in eight years, averaging roughly 1.68 to 1.8 million viewers, a significant 21% increase over 2024. Key matchups frequently exceeded 2 million viewers, with a June 1, 2025, Yankees-Dodgers game peaking at over 3 million, driven by higher youth engagement and increased popularity

quote:

The 2025 WNBA regular season on ESPN networks averaged 1.3 million viewers across 25 games, marking a 6% increase year-over-year and the most-watched regular season in their history. Across all major networks (ESPN, CBS, ION), the season saw a 3% rise to 969,000 average viewers, with the 2025 playoffs averaging 1.2 million viewers.

Is this just a situation where the cost to acquire/ keep SNB wasn’t worth the ratings it brought in?

What does the NHL have to do with Sunday Night Baseball being replaced?

Does the WNBA have better ratings than Sunday Night Baseball? No, it does not. What about women's soccer? Because this change is not just to put Caitlin Clark on TV every Sunday. This change is to broadcast both WNBA games and women's soccer games.

Combining women with "the future TV sport of America" (proclaimed circa 1970)...what could go wrong?

Pushing domestic women's soccer (as a $ generating fixture outside of quadrennial global tournaments) is the poster-child for delusional progressives indoctrinated by feminist dogma.

Meaning, ESPN is building its programming on sand...ignoring the rock where Bristol once stood. Disney must hate their investors.

yeah I won't be watching either way so put on whatever you want

I would guess this is more of a cost cutting move that gives them some PR points. The majority applauding or condemning it won't be watching either

Prime time regular season baseball is no longer something casuals are just going to watch because it's on.

Is it? Or is it just that they can get it for dirt cheap and because of that the ROI is better comparatively to SNB.

My house watches way more women’s soccer than baseball due to my daughter being a high level player and nobody liking baseball. I know that’s the exception but there are also a lot of girls who follow the stars of the national team. If they’re keeping exposure low and only putting the Trinity Rodman’s of the world on I’d imagine it’ll outperform whatever pittance they’re paying for it.

If they’re paying out the arse for SNB and comparatively it’s not crushing it then seems like a cost cutting move more than anything.

Is there data on this? The NHL is the last vestige of the big 4 leagues, in terms of selling out for money and social activism

I have not seen a company tell the world that they wanted to lose money like this since OnlyFans tried to get rid of nudity and porn.

MLB has the Sunday Night Baseball games going to NBC this season folks. How has no one posted that extremely pertinent fact ITT yet?

Lmfao at the liberal nonsense ITT about ratings. Get a clue. I watch Sunday Night Baseball every Sunday. I just renewed my MLB.TV and Reds.TV subscription for the upcoming season yesterday, since Spring Training games start tomorrow.

ESPN can go ahead and shoot themselves in the foot with women's sports nonsense no one is going to watch.
