Breaking News: QB wanting to be successful doesn’t want to go to a place where QBs historically haven’t been successful.

As far as the CBA being bad, it’s because you have 32 billionaires with 1 single goal (more money now) negotiating against thousands of players that all have different financial situations, needs, and goals.

Elite QBs need their own union… with requirements for entry into it

They’re not represented properly by a union made for backups and the defense

Caleb and the Bears are going to be MUCH better with Ben Johnson's coaching and leadership.

Pretty much. Carl Williams seems like a blowhard, but the only thing Caleb appears guilty of is privately expressing doubts about playing for the Bears, like any sane person.

And this part got missed in the OP:
quote:

After a predraft visit to the Bears facility, Williams believed he could be part of a process to turn the franchise around.

"I can do it for this team," Caleb told his dad. "I'm going to go to the Bears."

Thanks for the click bait, ESPN.

I think Daniels would’ve done fine in CHI. Caleb is about Caleb.

Also, you can think JaMarcus for rookie cap.

Its all timing. Bet Joe Montana and Johnny U would've loved Sam Bradford's rookie deal. People in sports just can't stop bitching about how much money they ain't getting, acting like WNBA girls.

I’d imagine Daniels would have done fine in Chicago. Same for Mahomes if they would have taken him instead of Trubisky (lol)

With the new coach this year maybe.

That was a horrible OL and a career killing coaching situation for a rookie QB last year in Chicago.

Sam Bradford didn’t have the rookie slotted dollars, which is what he’s complaining about there. Of course they’d love the record breaking contract Sam Bradford got at the time.

He actually could have gone to a different league. If Chicago didn't sign him he would be in the next draft.

Tampa drafted Bo and he went to baseball. The following year Oakland took a late round flyer and it worked.

The big risk would've been getting hurt.

That would have been hilarious in its own right then.

Leave college early for the NFL draft, only to get drafted by a team he refused to play for. Skips the NFL and goes to the UFL for a year where he'd only get paid about 1/10 of what he'd have made in NIL by staying at USC for his senior year.

Only to have to re-enter the NFL draft again and either get selected by another shitty team at the top of the draft...or fall in the draft to a better team, but at the expense $20-25 million less on his rookie contract for being a mid-late 1st round pick compared to being the first overall pick.

Caleb's dad might have even worse advice for his kid than Nico Iamaleava's dad

Turn down almost $40M over 4 years fully guaranteed to go play in the UFL for $200-300k for a year and risk getting hurt with no long term guaranteed money.

You sound like the only person that had worse sports advice for Caleb Williams than his dad.

Going to the UFL wouldve showed that he wasn't as good as the hype and ruined his #1 NFL draft pick status

Also you are way off with your $200-300k a year bullshite

Caleb Williams, the former USC quarterback and 2023 Heisman Trophy winner, reportedly earned approximately $10 million through NIL deals during his final two seasons at USC

For his potential salary in the UFL? I can't find anywhere that publishes UFL player salaries, beyond that the league minimum is $62k for players who are on the active roster for all 10 games. He wasn't going to make millions in a league that still hasn't turned a profit. Read my other post 2 comments above yours. He'd have gone to the UFL for a year and probably only made a couple hundred grand, which he'd have easily made 10x that in NIL if he'd have stayed at USC for his senior year instead of entering the draft and then refusing to sign with the Bears.

I think you missed his point. He was agreeing with you that going to the UFL was the wrong financial move. Either go to Chicago for guaranteed money or go to USC for NIL and get drafted #1 again

Looking for a way around the league's collective bargaining agreement,

I think in the few instances of years past the NFL was probably willing to look past potential draft picks refusing to sign with a team. However, you can bet your arse the NFL is going to close this door the first chance they get as this has suddenly become en vogue
