Never came close to win league mvp, never made all pro.
Neither did Troy Aikman and he got in first ballot. He did win 3 Super Bowls(MVP of one) so I guess Eli needed one more Super Bowl to be a lock.

Manning’s success happened only when the Giants had elite defenses
What elite defenses? Are you talking about the 2007 defense when the Giants gave up the most points in the regular season out of all the playoff teams? The 2011 defense were the same, giving up a whopping 400 points. Only seven teams gave up more points than the Giants in 2011.
Plus, they didn't have any All-Pro's in 2007, just one Pro Bowler in Osi Umenyiora. In 2011, they had Jason Pierre Paul as their only defensive All-Pro and Pro Bowler. Those were some elite defenses, I tell you. They were on par with the 85 Bears or 2000 Ravens.

You know the Hall can't resist the "two bros in the HOF at the same position" storyline.
I wonder when LeBron and Bronny make an offer the NBA HOF can't refuse.

Weak group if I must say.
There's like 2-3 "ya I guess" and a bunch of good players who had good careers but nothing hall of fame worthy.

Steve smith should absolutely get in in over Reggie Wayne or Holt and it shouldn’t be close.
Steve smith put up the same or better receiving numbers than Reggie Wayne or Holt while playing with Jake delhomme instead of hall of fame QBs putting up absurd passing numbers.
And Steve smith was just a more dynamic player over all. He was arguably the best return man early in his career with 6 return touchdowns in a three year span.
Steve smith is a HOFer in most media markets. He is borderline playing his career in Charlotte.

I'd say Eli but he's more Hall of sometimes Very Good
Eli is the Hall of won a SB. If he’s in Jm Plunkett should be in. He has no business being in period let alone first ballot. His overall record is .500, in 16 years he only made the playoffs 6 times and went 0-1 in the other 4. He never lead the league in yards, TDs or completion %. But did lead the league in interceptions 3 times. A hard no.

Eli Manning has no business being in the HOF.

I'm disappointed that L.C. Greenwood was not nominated by the Veteran's Committee.

The only slam dunk 1st ballot is Luke Kuechly.
Defensive Rookie of the Year -2012
Defensive Player of the Year - 13
All Decade team 2010s
1st team All Pro - 5 times
2nd team All Pro - 2 times
Pro Bowl - 7 times
I do not think Eli gets in first ballot. He shouldn't.
I think Gates gets in.

Eta- ladies, im not saying Eli should be in, i just assume he’ll get in.
Agreed, I don't think he deserves to be in but because he played in NY and is a Manning and played on two teams with outstanding defenses that won Super Bowls over Brady - he'll get in.

Kuechly’s longevity and the fact that he’s not a glamour position may hurt him. Patrick Willis had basically the identical resume of individual honors and wasn’t a first ballot (third ballot I believe). Good shot that Kuechly will be a second or third ballot.

Does someone have to be inducted every year? I mean it's the same as baseball. Don't put people in just to be putting someone in every year. Being in the HOF should be for those exclusively who were the best of the best for almost a decade or more, not some guy who made a Pro Bowl/All Star Game or three and was elite for a few years or so, and above average the rest of their career. I think both the football and baseball HOF's have waaaaay too many members, and they just keep putting very good not great players in to have an induction class every year.

I don't get first ballot vs any other ballot. Either you're a Hall of Famer or you're not. It's an "exclusive club" only in the fact that some guys that are eligible never get in...most just have to wait longer. It's like being at a club that has a VIP line and a non-VIP line, except once you get in, the club experience isn't any different.
The gold jackets of the guys that got in the first time eligible are no different than the rest, are they?

Did you watch Gates play? He’s easily a HOFer. One of the best TEs ever.

And a lot of people forget Gates didn't even play football in college at Kent State.
He only played basketball.
