We are the best. Simple as that. Think of it like this, the US typically absolutely dominates the Olympics. Most games are absolute blowouts. The other countries who wind up being pretty competitive all have 2-3 NBA players on their team as well.

Majority of Hockey players are canadian, but Canada's top pro league happens to be the NHL.

What I was going at more is I think the best KHL team (Russian's pro league that people say is 2nd behind the NHL) would be competitive with an NHL team. I guess the top KHL team could maybe beat the top NHL team?

I could be wrong

Basically no chance the top KHL team would beat the Blues in a 7-game series. All of the top Americans, Canadians, Swedes, Finns and even most of the top Russians (Ovechkin, Malkin, Bobrovsky, Panarin, Tarasenko, etc., etc.) play in the NHL. A few Russians that could play in the NHL choose to stay in the KHL, that’s basically it.

It is probably the 2nd-best league in the world (although some argue the AHL is better, but I doubt it) but it’s still a huge gap to the NHL.

Thanks, that's all I needed to know

isn't the AHL basically a minor league though?

No, because the best of the best are in MLB and the NFL/NBA/NHL.

What sports could another country put together a team and actually compete with us, or even beat? Baseball and basketball?

I would venture to guess Japan and some South American countries would give our World Series Champs a good run for their money in a series.

And don't forget that the U.S. "Dream Team" in basketball has lost to what many considered lesser opponents if International play.

Also, I'm legitimately curious about this question. How much do the UEFA teams even care about winning that thing? In

Yes Liverpool fans care. And they did beat flamengo, they basically ran away with the brazil league and are def the best team on this side of the world.

Yes, and that’s probably not the case. But I do think the KHL is closer to AHL than it is the NHL.

It's probably been mentioned by now but I remember Charles Barkley saying he was vacationing somewhere in the 80s/90s and wanted to watch the World Series but couldn't find it on TV anywhere. I think he joked that it shouldn't be called the World Series then.

If I remember the story correctly, it's been a while...

As a fan of the world champion Winnipeg Blue Bombers, I have no problem with it.
