Also, Ohtani was a free agent who just signed a mega contract with the Dodgers. I would assume he was on top of his money more than ever right now. Especially deferring a majority of it.

You think he manages his own money? You think he has any idea what is in his bank account?

That's EXACTLY my point. When I say he was on top his money I meant his people. Whoever manages his money.

His people managing his money should be on top of things.

So how does his freaking interpreter gain access to millions?

Also, funny how his story has changed.

quote:

Ohtani's camp initially said Ohtani transferred the funds to cover Mizuhara's debt and presented Mizuhara for an interview with ESPN on Tuesday night, during which he laid out the process in detail

Come on now. It's just highly unlikely this dude started stealing millions from a guy he has been with for over a decade. And he was paid very well.

Because Shohei granted access to cover the debts.

Again, go read the initial report from ESPN. Shohei's team setup an interview for Ippei to explain that Shohei's only involvement was that he wired the money. The fact that they are still pedaling this "Ippei lied and stole the money" is hilarious.

Exactly. And nothing is going to happen, because it's the face of baseball, but this is wild. It's so unbelievable they are going this route, yet it's somehow working. Who actually believes he had no involvement after they originally said he just transferred it to him? Transferring it to him is not stealing.

Id like to believe him. I like to watch him play but there was some odd coincidences with bets made on games that he happened to pitch for a play poorly on the mound and at the plate.

I hate the Dodgers, but if he were really into sports gambling, why did he stay in SOCAL instead of signing somewhere that it was legal?
And where would that be?

MLB knows he’s involved. They are just trying really had to try to find a way to NOT “know” he is involved.

Which is so wild to me. They fricking buried Joe Jackson (et al) and Pete Rose, two of the best players in baseball history. Yet seem to be trying their best to make excuses for Ohtani

Just wanted to point out how hypocritical and unfair MLB is being (as usual).

Any team that wants to is free to sign Bauer tomorrow. He isn't banned by MLB

He might be telling a ‘shade’ of the truth or he might be straight up lying about everything. Someone with that much publicity and that much money 1000% has someone coaching them up as to what they say publicly, so it’s either completely fabricated or it was severely sugar coated

Different eras where baseball could survive PR nightmares because it was the most popular sport by far.

I think you also have to factor in losing the asian market here as well, which is a huge money maker.

Joe Jackson and Pete Rose played on teams that were not named Dodgers or Yankees.

I manage my own money and I would not notice $2-3K missing from any of my accounts.

I do get a text alert of all charges on my CC or money taken out of my bank acct.

If my childhood best friend was in a bind and needed a few thousand I would zelle it without hesitation.
