Do you have to call in to get the $20 off or is this going to be automatic?

I think we will find out how long this will last as we get closer to Monday and the first MNF game of the season. That is the first NFL game on ESPN/ABC. If it's not resolved by then we'll see how bad the fallout is for DTV. If it's not as bad as they expect this thing could go on for a while.

Also, I want everybody to understand that this is all on Disney/ESPN. They are the ones who, reportedly, want a 100% increase in fees and for Direct TV to take on Disney+ subscriptions and guarantee a minimum sub number. Direct TV is just trying to hold the line and keep costs down. YouTube TV, Fubo, the rest of them, they're next when negotiation time comes up, there is no escaping this for any service unless they agree to pay up.

Disney is slowly turning the screws too. Sunday night I could still watch the LSU game because it was on ESPN+, but for some reason on Monday the FSU game was not available on ESPN+. Why would that be?

Honestly, ABC and the rest of the networks should not be a part of any of this. If they broadcast over the air, there should be a law that they are now a part of the public domain and should be freely available over every cable/sat/streaming service free of charge.

Yeah I have espn+ and still couldn’t watch the game on it last night. I watched it on YouTube though with no problem.

That's why they'll get this sorted out. It will be fine or I'll switch to YTTV for a while then go back to DirectTV Stream.

Keeping it real for a moment, most gamblers aren't going streaming. The lag time is too much to make in-game wagers. The lag time is at least 30 seconds and sometimes longer. Gamblers can't handle that.

For the rest of mankind who choose not to destroy their family's quality of life and just enjoy sports for being sports, streaming has already taken over household viewing numbers.

Wasn't it Dish Network this time last year?

DirecTV got into a spat with a big CBS affiliate last year in November. I believe Tegna. So, there was no CBS Saturday games but thanks to Tulsa King, SEAL Team. and Yellowstone, I have Paramount Plus, so crises diverted.

It was Spectrum this time last year

I was in NYC and had to scramble for the game due to it

I believe when Dish Network had the same dispute either last year, or the year before, both sides reached an agreement right before the first MNF game. I'm hoping this doesn't drag on beyond then.

Dish lost fox for two years. So no big 10 football or NFC football.

Do yourselves a favor and get YoutubeTv. I've never had a stream go down or issues with channels missing because of contract disputes. Plus they have 4 way split screen for games.

Canceled my DirecTV Stream service yesterday and subscribed to YoutubeTV last night. Great decision. Got Sunday Ticket and it's going to be about $50 less per month.

Anyone using Streameast? I might give it another try. Though the Dolphins/Chiefs playoff game last year didn’t work for me.

It's always about money, but in this context, Direct TV is fighting for its business model and life. Customers have been screaming for the ability to pick what channels they pay for for decades and these satellite and cable TV companies are hemorrhaging badly with millions leaving the platforms yearly.

ESPN has built its own standalone app with Fox and Discovery that is currently being fought and contested in court. They already have Disney Plus. At the same time, there are more streamers in this country than cable/satellite folks and it will only get more lopsided. The days of just making customers eat 150 channels when they watch 20 of them are coming to an end and the market knows it. These fights are for survival going forward.

I'll give them a couple days to work it out but if ESPN is not back by 11:00 am Saturday, I am canceling.

Already bought a fire stick for the bedroom.

SIAP, but I think one of Disney's recent disputes was resolved prior to the first MNF game but another lasted 12 days.

I think because the LSU-USC game aired on ABC, and the FSU-Boston College game was on ESPN. Scroll down to this chart that lists ESPN+ as an option when the MNF games air on ABC but not ESPN only (except for the HOF game for some reason).

Last year the dispute with Spectrum lasted past Week 2 of college football until hours before the first MNF game.
