Did the officials ever explain how they determined that was a UM first down?

There is one, but fricktards don't want to hear it because the "conspiracy" feeds their stupidity. Look at the posted pics.....the camera angle is from behind the ball which creates the "gap" people are whining about. If the angle was across the field at the tip of the ball and the stick, the "gap" would disappear.
The ball is a prolate spheroid so the stick has to be to the side of the ball. The white hat looks, if he sees the tip at the back of the stake, it's a 1st down. People love to create an issue where one does not exist.
The white hat doesn't get on his hands and knees and places a straight edge between the two or takes a vote...he looks, he rules. Like it or not; that's the explanation.
