Plus a sharp temper.
usually this is based on the person and not steroids
if somebody placed that much of a value on bulking up from 190, with a desire to be 220 at 5-7, he had mental issues from the get go. steroids did not cause those problems
now the acne? that's from steroids

I'd love to see they look now in their 50s.
a lot of this depends on what they put in their bodies (food-wise) and if they kept working out

i hope you're not implying from steroids
unless he's taking oral steroids, which can frick up your liver something fierce (like abusing any pills)

since you just watched it, did you think that father of the kid who died, who blamed it all on steroids, was a total dick in bigger, stronger, faster?
man, i found him to be unbearable. he completely refused to acknowledge that his son suffered from terrible mental illness.

i almost found that interview (at the house) and posted it on the poli board to discuss crazy people with agendas
that guy went crazy in his grief, found a cause, and went off the deep end
as soon as he said the kid had a shrink i was like...wait what?

again, further showing his mental issues

In blue jean shorts at the gym her legs looked really good. But in a dress it just doesn't work.

yeah, it was rather pathetic. you could tell the guy making the movie was pretty uncomfortable the whole time... just walking on egg shells.
his kid was only like 6 different scripts...and had multiple suicide attempts (iirc) and he blamed steroids...

yeah he was on a pretty strong SSRI. that doesn't make you crazy, but it means you have severe mental problems, the main one being depression. yeah, a kid with a history of depression, pre-steroids, killing himself MUST mean steroids did it

You really need to read it...all of it. Different take because it looks at the main arguments about steroids and objectively evaluates them.

So far the evidence for that is at best mixed. Most people use nothing but anecdotal evidence. They like to Bonds putting up sick numbers late in his career when he should have been decline. But maybe he's just a freak, an outlier. If taking PED's are why he improved after 34, then it should have happened to someone else. I don't mean someone else should have hit 73 HR or had an .500 OBP but there should be plenty of other players that improved, but that's not the case.

teroids accomplish 2 things helpful to athletics. They dramatically increase muscle mass which = greater strength. In terms of hitting that's bat speed.
this is a massively flawed statement. Steroids do not build mass. I've taken steroids for asthma, they did not build muscle. Weight lifting builds muscle mass. Steroids may help recover faster and work out longer. Next Having more mass does not improve bat speed, if anything its the opposite.

They had immediate spurts of growth in muscle mass. Also had facial acne and temper issues
Do we see these with any of these baseball players?

Taking steroids does not suddenly make you a good baseball player.
See Brady Anderson.
To me, guys like Luis Gonzalez are far more troubling. Guys that hit single digit homers for 8-10 years of their career and suddenly are bombing out 54.
But then you see a guy like Jose Bautista and it throws a wrench into everything. He hit like 6 fewer homers last year than he had his entire career. But with the testing now... I don't see how he could possibly be juicing and getting away with it.

Has ANYONE in this thread PROVEN that Aaron took roids??? I didn't think so. AGAIN ITS Aaron >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>BARRY all day long.
Posted on 4/17/11 at 4:18 pm to Bestbank Tiger
Do you think Maris juiced? His record breaking year was an outlier in his career.
My point is that the existence of an outlier year is not enough evidence to say that someone juiced.

However, he took greenies, which were considered to be a performance-enhancer, but probably not as significant. I know you will merely brush this aside, but Aaron "cheated" as far as taking performance-enhancers.

That's not Luis Gonzalez. He was hitting low teens early in his career, but he played in Houston and the Astrodome was one of the worst hitters parks ever. The years around 2001 when he hit 57 he hit 23,26,31,28,26.
As you mention Bautista did that last year and guys have done it it the past. Maris hit 278 HRs in his career. He hit 39 and 60 and 61 in 61, that's 100 of hist 278 career HR's in just 2 seasons.
Or look at George Foster. He hit 23 HR in 75, 29 in 76, then 52 in 77. He hit 40 in 78 , 30 in 79 and never more than 30 again. That's not all that different than some of the recent guys. Now 77 was an expansion year. People forget about that, but they added 2 teams in 93 and 2 in 98. that's 40 or so pitchers that weren't in the majors before that.

You have no idea what you're talking about. If steroids didn't work why do ball players use them?
They work! They work really well. I've never used them but I know a lot of athletes who did. They got wonderful results and often bad side effects.

OMG...you've got to be joking. My wife takes steroids for her back pain. That's not intended to build muscle mass.
