The 2004 team had one regular season loss: @#1 USC by 6 points.

Tough break with the timing. I think I still remember seeing that game on TV.

They still should have been making it as an at large consistently. I remember the defenses being at least decent too. It seemed like they dropped at least one game every year that made you scratch your head.

Their offense was complex as hell but beautiful when executed right. That Holiday Bowl we played against them they could have put up 60-70 points if they wanted

They were awesome in 2004. They should have beaten USC in the Coliseum that year after dominating the stat sheet but coming up 9 yards short of the end zone on their last drive.

They got screwed out of the Rose Bowl in 04.

Cal was ranked #2 in the AP with Rogers, right before a mess up on a FG cost them a game.

Kids across California and the world are dying to get into Cal, yet the likes Jackson, Lynch and Goff all get into these world class schools routinely. It amazes me.

Zac Brooks (RB from Arkansas in 2012 who went to Clemson) had full scholarship offers from the likes of Stanford and Notre Dame... Dude scored a 19 on his ACT...which means if he were a regular student he'd be enrolled in remedial classes at my tiny Div II Alma Mater.

What are these kids scoring who have to go to Jr College!?!

Yea,there was somewhat of an academic scandal there regarding student athletes (FB and Basketball players mainly) Supposedly the administration has changed its
practices regarding acceptance an eligibility of SA's.

Just looked it up and it turns out that Cal and USM did play in Hattiesburg, but it was at the end of the season. The game was postponed because of Hurricane Ivan.

Cal looked pretty lousy in that game and it's the reason why Texas jumped them and got to play in the Rose Bowl over Cal.
