The Nets had three first round picks the year he was drafted. Drafted Jason Collins, Richard Jefferson and Brandon fricking Armstrong

Did any of you know who Jason Collins was before today?
Yes. From back in his Stanford playing days with his brother.

I had to look him up because I am "NBA" ignorant as I don't follow the league. I'd imagine anyone else like me didn't know who he was either. In my opinion, he is not as high profile a player that I will remember, especially if he does not play again.

I had no clue who he was before yesterday. What he did is important but it's not that big of a deal until an openly gay player is playing on a team during the season. Collins might not play again. There's not much of a market for a 34 year old 3rd string Center.

Who gives a shite about him or this people are gay it's NOT news

He and his twin brother, Jaron, led Stanford to a good tourney run back in the day.
Basically, if you had never heard of hI'm then you aren't a basketball fan.

Being gay is no more morally wrong than is being left handed.

ah I remember them from Stanford, but honestly had no idea he was still in the league.

If you believe in Christianity it's a sin

Better question is will he get picked up by a team just for the good PR or will he actually be evaluated on his current level of talent?

Because it's unnatural like those homo seahorses and penguins.

oh you can bet stern will see to it some team picks him up, he's set himself up for a nice lawsuit if he doesn't get signed.

Coming out once your career is over doesn't make you some sort of ground breaker IMO. If the guy was about to negotiate his biggest nba contract I'd call him brave.
