Good point. It should be one or the other.
And let's not forget these are in fact legal adults making this argument.
Imagine the audacity of a legal adult demanding an employer share company revenue with them while also demanding to have certain additional protections relative to job security not afforded to anyone else in the private sector.
Either enjoy the protections afforded to students or behave as the rest of the workforce does. Not both.

100%. It just annoys me to see student athletes argue for what is effectively an employment relationship with their universities but when the down side of that relationship manifests itself (getting cut for subpar performance, loss of roster spots, etc.) suddenly they want to be "students" again. Pick one or the other like everyone else.
There’s clearly competing interests. Women’s sand volleyball isn’t going to have the same view on this as Nico or Nuss or Lagway, etc.
There’s still value in interscholastic athletics that don’t drive revenue to the athletic department and/or university, but it’s also clearly unfair for players who bring tens to hundreds of millions of dollars of revenue not to get some commensurate piece of that pie.
The problem is there’s bad actors on each side, the NCAA being one of them for decades

How about they simply remove college sports period. Return them to club sports, and let these "athletes" stop the charade of being students and the pro leagues like the NFL pay for their own minor leagues?
Universities can still rent out their stadium to said league and make revenue for education that way.
This is the point. Stop claiming you are a student athlete. It's an insult to actual student athletes there to get an education.

They’re not worth shite without the uniforms they wear

Oh really? WOW! It’s almost like there would be something like the teams get part of the revenue and the players get part, maybe they could even agree upon what both parties think is an equitable split
That would be crazy!

Time to drop the facade.

What do you propose they do for every other sport other than football and basketball?

IMO, you're either an employee of the university or you're a student/athlete of it. NIL is just the tip of the can of worms that's been opened.

i hate title 9 and dept of education but I think it is proper to share revenue across all student athletes equally, just like scholarship counts.
Top 5 worst comments in the history of this entire website.
Just incredibly stupid you must love handouts.
This is whats wrong with our country. Parents teaching their kids how to get handouts and how to leech off the folks making money rather than teach them to do work to help them be the one making the money.
Instead lets all eat off of the football players table.

Why?
Because morons love wasting money, especially if it isnt theirs.
This guy wants football to fund all the sports that arent profitable. Its so stupuid.

From what I gather, the ncaa wanted to keep amateurism in college sports.
Now we have nil and 10rc took them to court so they could use nil as a recruiting tool. And here we are. Way to go 10rc, what a plague you put upon the sport.

This is not in keeping with the spirit of Title IX at all. Is this the outcome of Trump meeting with Tubs and Saban? If so, they just screwed a bunch of female athletes.

I wasn't given free food today by a stranger. Was i screwed as well?
Women sports don't earn anything. It's a communist arrangement to FORCE men's sports to pay for net negative women's sports

While I disagree with you, I feel that's how the courts are going to rule.
Title IX law lawyers are about to get busy.

The courts have been ruling the complete opposite of that for 5 years now

You mean like the 11.7 scholarships for baseball? Unless it has changed no player could get a full scholarship.
Tulane lady basketball some years couldn't/wouldn't give out all scholarships because there wasn't anyone good enough to give a scholarship to......so should 1 or 2 of there unused scholarships go to the baseball team?

How many were on the roster? I think it’s cruel to have scholarships unused when there are players on the roster without them

All the players were on scholarship. They had extra scholarships that were not used.
