Weak of the league to not take care of him. Get the guy a job and help him out.

He is apparently dealing with severe mental illness. I hope someone helps him.

Damn. Dude on that Steve Francis retirement plan.

Steve Francis just bought a big house in sugarland and has a $5 million house on the market right now. I think he’s ok.

Are we meaning he was homeless like he slept in his truck one night while playing for the Mavs? Because I don’t see how someone actually living on the street while being on a roster is possible

You can do it for short periods but if the dude doesn’t want to be contained or homed.... it gets tough.

I’ll go out in a limb and say he’s spent more than a few nights institutionalized

Show up on time and have your gear in the locker and it’s messy but i would guess it could last a little bit

Yeah good luck with that guy in the video explaining to authorities that pro athletes kidnapped him to get him help and the authorities actually pursuing charges.

I just read in the Wiki on West I had never heard of him but that video is bad. All that rambling “Army, Navy Seal” talk was insane gibberish.

Just really sad. And even sadder, not that uncommon. Think last year they found a homeless dude in New Orleans who played in a Super Bowl, wrote a story about him and everything.

They talked a big game about social issues but they bent the knee to the Communist Party of China. Now they refuse to help one of their own. Absolutely pathetic.

The NBA can’t afford to anger the Chinese government because they actually have power to shut things down completely. They could lose billions of dollars. The NBA is not scared to anger american government because they’re powerless to do them harm of cost them money.

Holy hyperbole, Batman!

Untenable? There's a single fan of the NBA who thinks, "I'm not going to tune in or buy a ticket today because no one in the NBA will help that lunatic who won't take his meds"?

Idk why people are trying to blame the NBA for this. Some people just can't be helped.

Dude was diagnosed with bipolar disorder and quit taking his meds because he didn't believe it.

A quick google search shows that he's been helped multiple times in the past by players and owners, and even now people are still looking to help him out (His old coach from StJoe, Dez Bryant, etc).

The reality is that some people can't be fixed. And the one's that do change, want to change.

Sounds like he needs help, I would assume he has money, with the NBA pension and all.
