I read it. Of course, he was involved. At some point, he completely lied, misled, and exaggerated his relationship with fake girl. But I think, for a long enough while to be significant, he thought she was real, and I also think he had feelings for this girl he thought was real.
Where this all falls in the timeline, I don't know yet. When I know the answer to this question...

IMO, there's not enough evidence on either side to say anything definitely.
I just happen to believe there are more rational, logical explanations to support the theory that he, at some point, was duped, and he, at some point, lied/embellished how intimate he was with 'Lennay.'

he also lied in many many interviews about his relationship with Lennay, even if he believed she was real (which he didn't ) he still lied about many aspects and so did his dad

And another person close to the situation said they were 80% sure Te'o was in on it. Hell Te'o and that dude were friends. He had pictures on his twitter account of them hanging out together.

There's been some indisputable evidence presented that shows that Te'o is lying to an extent.
Mentioning the fake dead girlfriend in the days after Notre Dame claims he found out that it was a hoax (december 6)

Why couldn't Shelley Smith talk to the guy who supposedly went through the same scam(with no proof give by the way), why did they talk to his cousins? Whole segment seemed like some more BSing Hawaiians who wanted to get on TV and get their named attached to the story.

That claim has no substance to me, for two reasons:
1. It was made anonymously. If you mean it, say it.
2. 80 percent sure? WTF does that mean? What kind of number is 80 percent?
