We know he was in on it because he said he knew her for 4 years and they started dating in Oct 2011, 4 days after their initial tweet. He's lying bc he couldn't know her because she didn't exist until the twitter account was made. And you don't start dating someone 4 days after a tweet and never meeting.
Even if he "knew" her before under a different twitter account which we don't know of for both of them, that interview is telling. And what excuse does he have for not visiting her after "flatlining" following her wreck and her coma? Or when she learned she had leukemia? Never mind her actual death. And his trip back to Hawaii to see his family on the bye week and he didn't layover and see her grave and her family?
And this wasn't a scam from the beginning. You don't scam someone for years. You'll go hungry by then. If this truly was a scam, the scammer could have killed the chick off much sooner.
But it looks like it turned into an attempt to scam given what the uncle and the ND fan said (pookah dying of lupas). But no way Teo would be involved given the year he was having. He didn't need the money.
UNLESS.... The fake chick was his beard. Tom Cruise has had a few and they cost him a fortune. A fake one is free. So he and his buddy concoct a beard. The long phone calls were to the butt buddy. That's who teo was in love with.
Why kill her off instead of just breaking up? Bc the buddy smells a potential scam bc by then Teo was huge in the press. He convinces Teo to go the dead girl route and tells him it will illicit sympathy for the Heisman. Teo goes with it and milks it.
But butt buddy begins his scam and Teo can't say anything or do anything t o stop it bc the buddy will rat him out.
Then in early December, tweets start appearing saying the chick is fake. Now both are screwed. It takes 3 weeks before Teo finally comes to the decision that he must get ahead of this. And he goes to ND and tells them.
That's my story and I'm sticking with it.

I just can't get over the fact professional reporters actually did stories about this thing and none of this ever came up. Red flags should have been slapping the taste out of there mouths. Teo is a damn joke and so are the reporters who did articles and countless stories on this debacle.

Pete Thamel's transcript has red flags all over it. He ran the story anyway because, well, I guess it seemed very unlikely that it was made up.

It's pretty amazing, but it will do a lot in the future to provide better journalism for everyone. This has embarrassed some big networks pretty hard.
And hopefully we can get rid of some of this human interest bullshite that floats around way too much.

Swarbuck says that the scammer had different characters(multiple people or just him using different voices/mediums, we don't know) confirming things. Manti had spoken with "her whole family" by the time she died.
At this point I am not sure how people can deny that Ronniah is a calculated, crazy scam artist. I have no doubts he went ridiculous lengths to pull this off.
