saw something yesterday that kinda caught my attention
PTI was talking about the "thing" and Wilbon said that when Te'o came to the set and they met him, he thought Te'o was kind of "simple" and "child-like" and that led him down the path that Te'o was probably totally duped and not part of the hoax
now of course we all have our own belief. But having met and covered many athletes over the years, I get his point. Some of these guys live in their own bubble. Leaves them open to a "scheme" of this kind
not saying that I know that to be true, but it is possible from my view of athletes etc

Greenberg admits that, deep down, he thinks Manti is in on it. Cowherd is in the camp of initially duped, then embellished and it got away from him.

I think the least likely thing is that he was completely duped and got hoaxed 100%.
He knew before December 6th. He probably knew just after she died she wasn't real. He potentially knew before she died she wasn't real.
It's slightly possible that he knew she wasn't real before the 2012 season.
I highly doubt he invented her for his own personal gain from the start with the help of Tuiasosopo(sp). This is Tuisosopo's brain child, I think that's pretty clear. But Manti isn't this dumbass mongoloid that lumbers around and beleives everything he's told. He is smart enough to lie on his feet, that is a fact.
How much he lied about is the issue. I don't know if we'll ever know the real truth. Tuiasosopo could fall on the sword but I don't think he's enough of a man to do that, unless Te'o's handlers pay him off. I doubt that he comes out and tells the whole truth, unless someone pays him a large amount of money for the exclusive, but who knows if he would tell the whole truth.
This is such a crazy convoluted story, I just can't turn away, I want more.

To me, regardless, the guy is a complete joke. Period.
A. He was entirely complicit = POS liar, sociopath
B. Initially duped, embellished story = still a POS liar, still a loser for twitter relationship when he's MLB for an ND team in a MNC run, and still a sociopath for embellishing for attention (why else would the story of the meeting come out the way it did?)
C. Completely and utterly duped = WTF? WTF were you thinking? Oh, and he's still a POS liar.

D. Ronaiah set up a girl to meet him in '09 at the game (ala the NFL player), proceeded w/ joke by getting a girl to talk to Te'o over the phone (the phone conversations), and decided Twitter would be better in '11 (the initial twitter interaction).
By that time, Te'o had fallen hook, line, and sinker. Then, unexpectedly to him, Ronaiah decided to kill "himself" either to revel in MT's tragedy, to remove himself from the potential spotlight in the future, or for $ purposes. Te'o embellishes story to parents. Dad embellishes to media, Mom along for the ride. Te'o embellishes b/c there's no turning back at this point and he's caught in a web of lies that he doesn't even know are impossibilities.
This is the only scenario, IMO, that saves him somewhat, but it really hinges on whether or not he met an actual person in '09 or if he was full of shite.
B/c if he's full of shite about that storybook meeting then it's hard for me to buy this "love of my life" horse shite when ND students/players are already calling BS/saying he hooked up with other girls on campus during this pseudo relationship.

How would extortion explain the embellishing? Was it done at the request of Ronaiah who has a particular interest in not being exposed? How ridiculous does that sound?
And, of course, where the hell was he getting his $ in the extortion scenario? Sounds like he sure as hell didn't have enough $ to fly out and meet the "bitch" at any point after meeting her (on the field in '09, errr, online in '11)

I'd be very surprised if Teo does any interviews. If he comes out wanting to talk, get some more attention and string the public along further then absolutely he's a sociopath, lying POS, homo.

It started out a gay thing and turned into a scam by Ronaiah, cut short on Dec. 5, when one Twitter message was sent to The New ND Nation, with 7,000 followers, saying it needed “to know the truth” about Te’o’s girlfriend. LINK
That's when Ronaiah and Te'o started to realize it was over. There were no more sitings of Ronaiah after that.
Think about it, it was the Thanksgiving weekend Ronaiah was pushing his charities. Then nothing after the tweets started.
It was also when the tweets started that Te'o claims he received the telephone call. There was no call. He saw his beard was aboutbo be exposed via twitter.

Is this old news? tmz has an article saying that he's admitted to some players that he lied. But only found out on the 6th and didn't want to distract the team for the nc.

I don't know about the gay thing(unlikely to me, but I guess possible) but this is very telling.
The house of cards was falling apart at this point, Te'o needed time to formulate a plan, so he waited til December 26th(isn't that what ND said) to tell anyone at Notre Dame. That's 20 days between the time he supposedly found out, and told anyone.
It makes a lot of sense that he knew, what his involvement was will still need to be told. People are too wrapped up in this to let it go away IMO.
