It sucks and they shouldn’t have to resort to it, but if the alternative is rolling 86 mph pitches up in the zone that just spin there and don’t break, then is there really a choice? You’d rather give up bombs and whine about the balls after the fact or try to get outs with your 2nd and 3rd best pitches?

Some relievers only have 2 very strong pitches and that's how they've made their careers: by using one to setup the other and vice versa. It's been an odd series to say the least.

No doubt. And what’s crazy, is they’re still on serve—the Dodgers still have home field. Yet people seem to have buried them after last night. There’s almost nothing that could happen these last 2games that would surprise me.

The only real issue I had with Hinch last night was pinch running Maybin for Gurriel. Gurriel is quick enough to score on a base hit to the outfield and Reddick has sucked this post-season. When I saw Maybin coming out of the dugout I assumed he was about to pinch hit for Reddick.

I cannot fault him for a sorry bullpen. In the end we finally found a guy who could go a full inning without giving up a run.

Zero, including blowing a 5 game division lead with 9 to play in 2012.

Nah. Turner had a bad leg, hence the DH spot for him last night. Plus, you're playing for 1 run against an Astros staff that was dog shite.

You've got to swing away there.

Ehhh, it was kike Hernandez up. I get what your saying, but with a guy like Hernandez, I’d rather advance the runner than let him swing away. Bellinger, puig, turner in that situation, I’d swing away.

They didn't force Girardi to be fired. He quit.

Yes I'm still upset about it.

I hated the bunt. The only justification I can see is that Kike has been allergic to RHP (.159/.244/.255 on the year) and Peacock has been death to righties (.172/.255/.246). But still the way the ball was jumping and how fatigued these bullpens looked, I’m not giving up an out. If you had no faith in Kike, go to Either there.

Overall, I think Roberts is a good manager though. The OP is extremely reactionary and hyperbolic.

in Robert's defense, he did not bunt in similar situations earlier that game and game 4.

i think he just didn't completely trust Kike in that position, and at least wanted a productive out.

Why doesn’t Kershaw deserve some blame for not pretecting a 4-0 lead?

This. Or Justin Turner getting thrown out at 3rd on a shitty bunt attempt. Or Chris Taylor not running on a fly out to right field. Or any of the other myriad of things that happened over the course of the game.

Then, he shouldn't be batting cleanup or should be PH for. He wound up PHing for him the very next inning. 1 run wasn't going to be enough.

Can we agree Kershaw isn't the best postseason pitcher?

That's the out pitch for many of those relievers. They are neutered without it.

Oh, game 4 is absolutely on Hinch. NO. 1 why take the guy out in the 8th who was dealing, he had been letting his hot relievers finish in multiple other gams, why not here. No. 2 if you do make the mistake of taking him out, DO NOT PUT GILES IN. He's been rocked all post season. That was inexcusable and all on Hinch.

With the way the game was going and knowing your pitching going forward, playing for 1 run was very stupid there.

Could Kiki missed a sign though? I doubt it.

The bunt I did not mind, but it was the guy on 2nd you were bunting over that was the issue to me.

Ron Washington was embarrassed by the opposing manager in two straight World Series.

His real frick up was bunting in this game when it was tied 7-7. Who the frick watched that game and was thinking that playing for 1 run was a good idea?

If your complaint is about leaving Jansen in, I'd have to side with Roberts. No way I'm trusting Fields or BMac after what they did earlier in this series.

No offense to BMac but I think it's a little weird he's even on the roster. They kind of put him in a bad spot. He hadn't pitched in a game in like 24 days before he went in in game 2.
