Man Javi sucks arse I’m not sure he deserves a roster spot. He might be cooked
Peter Lambert and Ryan Weiss probably deserve looks before him. But ig with the salary they’ll give him enough rope to hang himself and force the orgs hand if he can’t figure it out. Not much value in a dude who throws 92 on a string with little command and can’t get thru 4 innings in less than 90 pitches.

They let McCullers throw meatballs about half a dozen times last season. They’ll give Javier plenty of runway, unfortunately.

Is there such a thing as a good long term signing?
Ever?
I mean they get injured almost every time and end up playing blackjack in Vegas with Jessica Alba

Young position players are a good investment. IMO the hardest to develop.

Lance punched out 4 in 3 innings. Gave up a 434 foot dong tho
Was 93-94. Mostly cutter/4-seam with the fastballs. 6 whiffs, 65% of his 52 pitches for strikes

Hopefully only a week or two behind.
King has not gotten good results this spring, and we all know the BA in closer role rollercoaster. Although, this is BA's money year and he might be the best non-closer on the market next year so he should really show out in that role when given the runway.

Seems like every preview I’ve seen from a national writer thinks our lineup will be great and that our starting pitching is the big question mark
Feel like the DAT knows it’s the complete opposite
Also, here’s to hoping the Cal Raleigh/Arozorena beef causes all sorts of problems in the Mariners locker room

Speaking of questionable journalism... how about this article from Chron:
As Astros host baseball's biggest party, their stars are nowhere to be found
What an absolute piece of shite article from an absolute piece of shite writer.
quote:
One thing that's notably missing in WBC play, though, is the Astros players themselves.
quote:
Additionally, it's clear that players who would normally suit up weren't interested in ruffling the feathers of an organization that holds their financial futures in their hands.
quote:
The Astros mostly got what they wanted for 2026-outside of another freak accident injury-as the party continues at Daikin Park. But as Major League Baseball continues to find ways to grow its game globally-including a Mexico City series scheduled in April, a proposed game in London in the works, and MLB's push to allow players to compete in the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics-will the Astros be at odds with a league that wants to put the sport's marquee stars and young prospects on the international stage?
The beauty of the World Baseball Classic (WBC) lies in its ability to create a melting pot of cultural connections. Players forge new relationships with others across the league, coaches gain fresh perspectives on different players, and memorable moments on the big stage can lead to the emergence of new stars.
Instead, the overwhelming majority of the Astros roster is in Florida, watching along just like the rest of us. I'm curious what they think about missing out on the party in their own home.
The article points out the Astros have players from 7 different countries... but then alludes to them missing out on the "melting pot" created by the WBC.

Is this guy any relations to joe burrows?

4 1/3 shut from Weiss. He’s impressive he’ll probably break camp as the swing man, but he’s going to pitch himself into the rotation at some point.
Paredes is playing second. He looks more than capable there despite what Chandler and the national guys say about him

If tweet fails to load, click here. Arrighetti planned this perfect, won’t have to change a diaper until November when the off-season begins.
