If not Beltran then correa’s brother. If we can just get correa fixed we get a lot better on the offensive side.

Judge Emmett is the man for the job.

Reading this article on The Athletic about 5 potential deals for Realmuto...
This can’t be serious, right?
That would arguably be a bigger steal than the Cole trade last offseason, and I really like James and Kemp
quote:
1. Astros – RHP Josh James and OF Tony Kemp The Marlins would first ask the Astros for right-handed pitcher Forrest Whitley, who is clearly the number one pitching prospect in all of baseball. I would expect they would get a quick no, or maybe even a dial tone, depending on the mood of Astros GM Jeff Luhnow at the time. They’ll probably follow-up with an inquiry on Kyle Tucker and although that would probably also be a no, I think a deal for him straight-up is probably a fair offer.
However, the deal that makes sense for both teams for me would be right-handed pitcher Josh James, who by the way is from South Florida and presently lives in Miami, and outfielder Tony Kemp. James throws a 100 mph fastball and has an above average changeup. If his slider ever becomes a consistent pitch, he could end up as a No. 2-type starter in the big leagues. If it doesn’t, he profiles out to an impact closer or set-up reliever.
Kemp, 27, might be an older prospect, but the 5-6, 165-pound second baseman and outfielder showed serious flashes this past season that he is ready to be an everyday player. He got on base at a .351 clip and stole nine bases in 87 games. He grinds out at-bats like Brett Gardner of the Yankees and has the speed of former major leaguer Michael Bourn. As it happens, he told me both were childhood heroes of his.
This can’t be serious, right?

Yeah that’s not realistic at all. With the Braves serious suitors it won’t be cheap. If we could do it while keeping Tucker and Whitley that would be a win and I would love it. But I think the Marlins go for quality over quantity with the last asset

It has been shocking to me to see a fair amount of fans give up on Tucker already and think he sucks bc of his limited results this last season. I’ve argued with multiple friends about it

It would take a another high level guy to make that deal happen. Like Corbin Martin or Alvarez

My dad told me today he heard Keuchel said he would be willing to take less money to pitch for the Yankees.
He is a true Houston Hero. LOL

Nothing would be better than to shell him in the playoffs next year.

Sandra Latina an Astros fan?
She’s from El Paso so that makes sense.

So my sorta cool story of the day...
I’m sitting in the Incheon Airport KAL lounge and there’s a tv showing a Korea professional league game. I’ve been watching completely by myself for the first 3 innings. During the 4th inning, a Korean guy comes in and sits in a chair behind me.
After a couple of innings, he moves up a row and sits in the chair next to me (the chairs are spread out to give people plenty of personal space.
After a bit, he says, “You seem very interested in this game. Are you a fan of one of the teams?”
I told him that I don’t even know which team is which, but the two teams are playing good baseball and since the US MLB season is over, I’m starved for some good baseball.
He nods and says, the world needs more baseball my friend.
I agreed.

Wow. Being reported that we had a deal for Harper at the deadline last season which Washington said no to at the last minute
quote:
For Harper, the Nationals would have obtained right-hander J.B. Bukauskas, the Astros’ No. 8 prospect according to MLBPipeline.com, and two other minor leaguers, sources said. Catcher Garrett Stubbs, the team’s No. 15 prospect, was in play, and the Nationals would have received another, low-level, minor-league pitcher as well

After learning they could not land Harper, the Astros put together another trade that would have sent right-hander Francis Martes to the Chicago White Sox for outfielder Avisaíl García, sources said. That deal failed to come to fruition when the Astros expressed concern over the condition of García’s right knee. García, a right-handed hitter, would play the rest of the season, but batted only .197 with a .631 OPS in the final two months and underwent arthroscopic surgery on his knee on Oct. 2. Martes had Tommy John surgery on Aug. 15, but the White Sox were aware of his condition at the time the deal was discussed, sources said.
The Astros, according to sources, also pursued another right-handed hitter in the days before the non-waiver deadline, believed to be St. Louis Cardinals outfielder Tommy Pham. But that trade, if it indeed was discussed, also failed to materialize, with Pham going to the Tampa Bay Rays instead

Having Bryce would have been and maybe he would have been a difference maker but I don't think anyone was gonna get past the Red Sox. As banged up as we were, I don't think one guy was making the difference.

Would have been nice to have another non gimme AB in the lineup

Didn’t realize this happened.
quote:
Getty Images Carlos Correa underwent surgery to repair a deviated septum Astros shortstop Carlos Correa underwent surgery to repair a deviated septum, he revealed during a team event on Saturday. Correa said he struggled to breathe properly while running the bases this season and hopes the procedure will alleviate any similar issues in the future. The 24-year-old infielder was no stranger to injuries in 2018. He was waylaid by a lingering case of lower back stiffness throughout the second half of the season, which caused him to miss around seven weeks of action as the Astros pushed for a repeat playoff run. Despite coming off of one of his best career years in 2017, Correa’s constant battle to remain healthy compromised his production levels in 2018 and fed into a career-worst .239/.323/.405 batting line, 15 home runs, and a .728 OPS over 468 plate appearances. Per MLB.com’s Brian McTaggart, Correa isn’t expected to undergo a lengthy recovery process as he works his way back from surgery and chronic back pain. Additional comments made during Saturday’s event suggest that he’s no longer dealing with any back issues and will be able to resume his standard training program in a week or so.

Astros pursuing James Paxton
Yes please
quote:
The Mariners are set to retool this offseason, leaving few to no untouchables on their roster. Left-hander James Paxton has emerged as arguably their highest-profile trade candidate early this offseason, and he’s drawing interest from an array of teams, per Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic. The Astros are part of that group, Rosenthal reports.
