I’ve been underwhelmed by the whole offseason.

Signing Abreu was big. Bringing Uncle Mike back was potentially big. Not giving JV $43M per year was smart with 6 starters behind him. The rest of the offense and bullpen is coming back, so no huge holes to address.

In my opinion locking up Frambaw and Javier should be the priority, and there is still time. Tucker as well, but I expect him to be testing out the free agent waters unless it's a Tatis or Lindor sort of extension, and we all know that won't happen.

They have had some awesome drafts the last few years. Certainly better than the other names rumored

Definitely my preference among the mentioned candidates.

I read something this morning off Google that quoted Bagwell saying we haven’t ruled out Yuli

Didn’t sound overly positive, just didn’t rule out the possibility

As a player or coach?

I'd be good either way, but still think that I would rather the utility ABs go to Hensley or Yainer.

DAT insiders say Brown is the right mix of old and new school with an attitude to stand up to Crane, who actually wants that in a GM. Conversely, Click was more on the passive-aggressive side.

He's like queso with big chunks of beef in it. If you don't like that, you're a monster (aka List Eater).

I wish we’d signed Vazquez (I know I know….Maldy is Johnny Bench as far as FODB is concerned)

Y'all cracking me up. You know what they say about wishing. And there was absolutely no way Vazquez was going to sign here and be a backup. SMDH

Also, really who is stacked at literally every single position? Anyone? You get some really great players. You get some pretty good, better than average players. You have a few that aren't as good. You pray that everyone you need stays healthy and luck goes your way.

I mean, truly, that 2019 was one of the best teams ever on paper and during the regular season. But we have a few things that are bad luck, a few other bad decisions, etc. and we don't even win a single game at home in the WS.

This Astros team has just as good a shot at another WS as anyone else. Maybe more. Maybe more because we have guys that believe they can win. I don't think the Mets or the Yankees can say this after last year. Do all these new Mets gel and turn into a team? Who knows? The Astros almost always play like a team!

Yeah, it wasn't positive. It said to me that Yuli is gone unless he is willing to take the role the Astros want to give him. Yuli will be a Marlin.

Agreed.

As someone once said about having a good field, no hit player in the lineup "Well, someone has to make the 3rd out"

I know. I meant sign him to be a starter. That’s why FODB was thrown into my comment. We’d be a better team with Vazquez starting over MM, period. If they want to use the not switching catchers in midseason thing for last season, that’s one thing. They wouldn’t have had that issue going into next season.

I get that. And I think if we get the pitching we had last year, what you describe above is in play. But we were off the charts on pitching last year and I won’t be surprised if there is a regression. WS struggles aside we lost the Cy Young winner. I understood letting him walk given our depth and his price tag. Hopefully Javier or Brown make that a non-issue. Will Montero be as good as he was last year? He’s been that good exactly one other year. Will Abreu be postseason Abreu or the BB machine that he’s shown before? Then they bring back shitty arse Maton. It’s not unreasonable to want a bit more hitting in case the pitching drops off a bit.

I’m no Click apologist but it’s bothersome to me that Crane, Dusty, Bagwell and Reggie fricking Jackson appear to have run our offseason.
