Among the top 5 benefits of moving from BR to Knoxville... I can get all* the Astros games on MLBTV.

Among the top 5 drawbacks is I'm in Eastern Time, so the west coast night games start about when I go to bed.

*The Braves and Reds are blacked out here, so I guess not ALL some seasons, but damn near.

It was cheaper than xfinity and that’s why I switched. Think it’s like $60 a month. Xfinity, after they rape you on box rentals, was way more expensive.

I'm prepared to be underwhelmed with the GM hire TBH. Bagwell is said to be highly involved in the search. We know his thoughts about analytics and the computers. He'd gladly throw all that out for a gritty old school baseball guy. So would Dusty. I expect a hire who's been around the game since the 80s or 90s, a guy who's roots are in the old school way of scouting. Guys like Bobby Evans and Dana Brown.

Evans worked for the Giants from 1993-2018 under the notably anti-analytics Brian Sabean.

Dana Brown is a former player turned scout

Fubo has gone up a little bit. Still worth it for the Astros in the spring/summer. Only drawback is no Turner networks. TBS had the AL playoffs last year so FOX networks should have them this year.

I think I saw that they have them again. I just looked and their cheapest package is $75.

The 3 names mentioned are super underwhelming but out of them I would be most okay with the Braves scouting director

I’ve been underwhelmed by the whole offseason.

Don’t misunderstand, I’m elated with the Series win, but I want it to keep going. It would have been the same team if Chasfizzle drops that ball or Yed gets under that pitch in game 6. We’d have all lost our collective minds if those things had happened then we followed it up with these very mild moves. I still can’t believe we didn’t sign a legit outfielder. I think Yed in LF every day is asking for trouble injury wise. What is the confidence level that Brantley is available opening day to DH? That leaves Hensley as your opening day starter there and while he’s done some nice things in limited time, I don’t think it’s ideal.

I wish we’d signed Vazquez (I know I know….Maldy is Johnny Bench as far as FODB is concerned) and an OF. Obviously the Abreu signing was a nice upgrade.

Talk me off the ledge DAT.

Oh, I’m with ya! But I think that we are collectively harder on decisions made by the Astros than most people. I was having lunch the other day with a buddy who is a Mets fan. He was talking about how he’s worried about next season. I was shocked. Then we talked about additions to both teams and he said “yeah, but we will find a way to frick it up. You guys find a way to make magic.” I never thought about it like that…

Bill Brown and Bill Doran elected to Astros HOF.

Doran was of my favorites when I first started watching baseball as a kid.

Brantley being his best in September and beyond is what’s important. Not the worst thing in the world if Dusty is forced to give young guys ABs. I would have preferred to sign a younger LF but if he can still hit that deal turns out being a steal.

I got no positive spin for you here. FODB.

They have had some awesome drafts the last few years. Certainly better than the other names rumored
