He seems determined to keep us in the villian role
there is really nothing he can do about that. Altuve could cure cancer and the first sentence in Rosenthal's article would be about how he maybe had a buzzer during the FDA testing.
There is a lot of wishcasting about the astros demise over this.

Not a good look for the Astros

Hopefully he goes and gets Stearns or Luhnow guy Sig

my hot take is that this is already done.

Sucks the Mets have a GM spot open cause that’s probably the most desirable job for any GM with the unlimited budget

Let’s hope he isn’t dumb enough to basically fire his GM without putting feelers out already.
And Click has been at the GM meetings

The quote that Click was actually fired was a tweet from Bob Nightengale, who has long been close to Barry Bonds and Dusty Baker. So it’s easy to see who fed him that and it may not be true, especially the part about Click publicly airing grievances. I read the stories and no quote from Click appeared to be an airing of grievances.
And this is why I’ve never liked Baker. On top of being a bad manager with strategy and lineups, he’s always seemed two-faced. I’d watch my back if I’m the next GM.

Can you fire someone not under contract?
If Click was at the GM meetings he must have been operating in some capacity, right? Maybe the contract wasn't up at the same time as the players.

Won't shock me if Dusty has input on tje next Gm and wants some old school dinosaur who doesn't do any analytics computer game non sense

Dusty WILL have a say so on the next GM, unfortunately

I think I read that his contract was basically auto renewing unless action was taken. The offer from Crane was a new contract for 1 year with more money

cashman was there too with no contract. Seems like it is just an industry circle jerk session

He's gonna frick around and get a reputation as a difficult meddling owner and nobody worth a damn is going to want to work for him. You can bet that in executive circles, theyre already talking about Dusty pulling an end around on Click to get Crane to veto a trade. No GM worth his salt is going to want to work in an environment where the field manager has the owners ear to dictate personnel operations.
Exactly this. This isn’t so much about Click as it is about how a basic org chart works. FODB is the de facto GM now.
I don’t think Click was any great shakes, but they weren’t bringing Springer back, they weren’t bringing Correa back. Not like he could do anything there. He made decent, not spectacular trades. And the ones this year were shite all over by Baker. Playing MM and YG over CV and TM at that time were objectively bad decisions regardless of the final outcome. And the one splash trade he had going was vetoed by that same assclown. I know that many people on here are glad that that one fell through, but it’s still not a good situation.

Which absolutely should not be the case. Dusty is here for a year or two more. He shouldn't dictate long term operational decisions of the franchise.

But why...

Stearns is still under contract through 2023 so Milwaukee will require compensation.

Man, flash back when Luhnow was hired and we fired all of our scouts
The old school regime had pitchforks and torches
This ain’t no big deal
Hell, we have Dusty and Reggie and the media is still the media
We’ll be fine
