That’s 7 home playoff game losses in a row.
If Crane wants the Astros to be competitive again he needs to do two things. 1) He needs to go out and hire a GM with true Analytical experience. The brain trust that just came up with the gameplan for today’s game needs to be fired. All of them. And 2) He better hire an independent analytical firm to figure out why TF the last few years’ teams suck at home.

Of all the dumb things that Espada did today this is ranked 9th. Spence was the best option there. I have no complaints with letting him hit.
Here’s all of Espada’s screw ups
1.Pitching King at all
2.Letting King have a longer leash then anyone that pitched today
3. Letting Sousa pitch
4..Not giving Blubaugh a longer leash
5..Letting Trammel start a game
6.Not bringing in Uolloa after Blubaugh
7.Pitching Abreu down the 3 in the 8th
8.Pitching Hader down 3 in the 9th

I know they are limited with pitchers but he shouldn’t even be on the roster much less pitching in meaningful spots. I appreciate what he’s done for the team over the last few years, but he has been bad since that spell before the All-Star break. Without checking exact stats, there wasn’t a point in the season where anyone thought “hey he’s figuring it out.” we would’ve been better off with a Hendrickson type call up. Might’ve turned out the same way, but we knew what we had with King and we got it today.
But beyond that, Blubaugh didn’t do his job which created this mess. I think I would’ve went with Imai instead of King though.
The Javier injury, plus fiddle fricking around all last week and having to battle until the last day created a huge domino effect on a ton of things that happened today.

These guys aren’t pitching 3 days in a row. Hader threw 50 pitches 5 days ago. He didn’t need to be in this game period.

I actually got the Astros winning the series at +293 (including 50%boost).
The White Sox starting pitchers are crap. They burned Taylor for at least tomorrow. I still think their offense is not great.
If you can cover 15 or 16 of the next 18 innings with Brown, Wesneski, Abreu, and Hader, then this is still winnable.

They will both go tomorrow and Thursday if need be.
As dumb as we think Espada is, he isn't dumb enough to burn Abreu and Hader if he didnt think they could both pitch 3 straight. They didn't do it in the regular season, but they definitely would do it in the playoffs.

Eh I think he’s really that dumb. You gotta realize this is the same guy that keeps using Sousa and King in high leverage situations. Don’t give Espada any credit

Starting king in the top of the second was one of the worst mistakes he’s made all year. If he goes with Ullola then maybe we keep it tight and their pitchers don’t have the luxury of a massive lead.
