We could have made a very good offer not including those guys, but it would have been 4 prospects.

They said On tv the other day the expect him to be. They said he could have played through what he had but wanted to be safe.

For whatever reason (obviously the owner, but not sure why) the Orioles just don't sell players.

It's no doubt costing them in the long run.

I tried to avoid any sports talk because I knew we were gonna get blasted but lunch hour couldnt avoid it.

Per Gammons on the Rich Eisen show the Orioles and Mets were insulted by our offers.

So it sounds like the strategy was to try and trade rape someone, and if no bites, then go with what we have. We will have to ride it out and see what happens.

Anyway, I am not getting sucked into the lack of trade talk today. Let's get a W and move on.

Sonny Gray actually gets dealt for a AA outfielder, a kid who may never play again, and a pitcher who hasn't returned from TJ surgery yet, and the Mets and Orioles were insulted by our offers? Meanwhile we deal a major league outfielder and a AAA outfielder who has performed at the major league level to the Jays for a washed up starter that we plan to use as a Loogy. Doesn't add up.

These things go both ways. If we were as close to a deal as has been speculated, I assume we made a quality offer to the orioles. The owner nixed it so now Baltimore is trying to spin it as our offer was embarrassing. I call BS on that. As for the Mets, what were we even bidding on? Addison Reed?

Wonder what the Mets offer was... and if it was for Reed or if they actually made a play at DeGromm or Bruce?

As for the Orioles, don't even care if they were insulted. They never sell anyway, so it was probably a legit offer but Angelos expected 3 or 4 of the top 10 guys for a closer coming off of injury.

I'm insulted that they felt insulted.

What sort of league are you in that he was even available?

a league of legends. ha, but in all seriousness...I actually drafted him, but unfortunately his slow start had me drop him for a while. he's bounced around a few teams I think. didn't expect to see him on FA though.

Orbit seems to have a much higher IQ than Archer.

I can't wait for Machado, Britton and Jones to leave the Orioles after next year and then get nothing. Angelos can pound sand.

Crane going savage on Angelos. Methinks he's pissed. You don't see or hear much from Crane during the season . He's pretty out of the spotlight as owner. All of a sudden he's doing interviews throwing shade at unnamed owners.

And don't forget they'll be paying Chris Davis for something like the next 25 years.

ETA: I'm still going to go on record as saying that I believe Verlander will finish the year in an Astros uniform. I don't see anyone claiming him on waivers.
