As long as Liriano is healthy, Guadan won't see the ML club again this year.

The Stros could still sign Justin Verlander in August, no?

The Astros could literally win every single game left and they might still have to play Kansas City and Cleveland in the postseason. Which means playing games in Kansas City and Cleveland, because you can't host every game of a playoff series. I still feel like you're trying to frick with people
I know its inevitable they could have to play IN those cities...did you really think I meant we should try to play NO games at all in those places?
What the frick?
I meant have home field...holy shite.

I don't know his email addy, but it's probably in my Media Guide. I'll have to dust that b*tch off.

We had the eventual WS champs beaten until a wild 8th inning in Game 4. Since then, the Royals are not as good and the Astros are much better.
There's no one to fear in the AL if the Astros are healthy. But there will be 4 good teams in the AL playoffs with Houston, that's for sure.

The hottest team going into the playoffs will be the team to fear. Who knows who that'll be right now though. Still a little less than 60 games remaining.

if we have to play the godforsaken Royals in Kansas City. We suck there, and the same could be said for Cleveland. In fact, I don't think we should play Cleveland at all.
This is what you said.
Also the Astros have zero control over who they play. They also have like 12 and 13 game leads over Cleveland and KC with 58 games to play if home field is what you're worried about. Any deal today should have been made with the postseason roster in mind, not trying to get home field advantage.
It would take a meltdown worse than your own in this thread to lose home field advantage to either of those teams

Cleveland
NYY
Boston
KC
Is how I fear them in that order right now. The Rays or Mariners somehow stealing a WC slot would be great but I don't see it happening.
The Dodgers are frickin stacked though and the Cubs are red hot

Well, the way the rest of the AL is bunched together, the Astros won't be playing the hottest team in the ALDS because they'll be facing a wild card game winner. Unless, of course, they blow the best record, which may signal the playoffs aren't going to go too well.

This is what you said.
And nowhere does it say I think we should play zero games anywhere other than Houston. That makes no sense, and I'm dumbfounded why you would even assume anyone that thinks that would find the time to post on a sports message board. I'm shocked I even need to explain myself.

I get that and that's obvious, why does it even need to be said?
Wanting home-field advantage AND getting the roster primed for the postseason is not mutually exclusive. You can want both.

Just because you call it a meltdown, doesn't make it a meltdown.
Are you getting tired of telling everyone about their melts yet? Are you melting because others are melting? You've been at it all day.
Come on, we're going in circles.

MLB Network panel ripping us for doing nothing:
Yankees got better
Cubs got better
Dodgers got better
17 game lead, chance to win a World Series and you don't add anything
Liriano has a bullpen ERA over 5.00 in 45 career innings.
Good for you guys on the 16.5 game lead
That's great. But Championships aren't won on July 31st
Carlos Pena notes that Brent Strom is one of the best and could turn Liriano into an under the radar addition.

The Nats and their shitty bullpen added Madson, Doolittle and Kintzler for not a whole hell of a lot.
I think this chaps my arse more than anything when you look at what we did.

msutiger says it was impossible to expect nothing less than Tucker and Whitley in any trade.

Everyone in here patting themselves on the back about how awesome the melting has been today. Pfft. Try harder:

Tough love. If Bannister was manager Lance would have gotten that on the mound this weekend.

I know I'll get downvotes, but I have never been more ashamed to be an astros fan as I am today. I am of course disappointed we didn't make a major trade. However, people are so emotional it's embarrassing and JL was getting some kind of shite talked to him and so are the players on the dl.

The McCullers thing is troubling. He may never get his mechanics right to avoid injury. Maybe he can pitch from the stretch all the time like Peacock?
