At this point we might be better with Lance on the DL.

Here's something wild to consider.

If LMJ doesn't get back in time to establish himself and get back into a groove, he may be the one pitching out of the pen while Peacock starts in the playoffs.

Yeah frick KC and Cleveland.

Let's go play the Red Sox or the Yankees who both just upped their pitching staffs today while we sat back

I am kind of surprised Cleveland didn't do more. Joe Smith is underrated but they have the chips to make a big move too and didn't.

Sure I can.

If Liriano is limited to a role of one or 2 left handed hitters and then hes done, in the grand scheme of the whole bullpen, it doesn't change much. It's a small addition. Sipp was one problem in a series of problems.

We're still often left relying on guys like Feliz and Gregerson and filtering in and out trash like Hoyt and Guduan.

Will Luhnow get a spot on A&E's Horders?

But seriously, what good is hording all of these prospects when we are already solid offensively and these players may not see Minute Maid Park until 2020?

Trade some of these bats on the Farm for some Arms in the Majors, and you probably make the Astros the first ever team to win a pennant in both leagues.

I think maybe the Brewers and the Stros are the only teams capable of this feat, but that doesn't make it any less valuable.

Gonna ride Devo and Giles arms down the stretch till they end up like Harris.

Sad!

Gregerson is the only guy out of those 4 you named who might pitch meaningful innings in the postseason. I seriously doubt any of the other three are even on the postseason roster

Mike Fiers could be our number 2 starter in the post season.

Heres to you Jeff Luhnow

It could work out with what we failed to do today. But the way things are working right now, it is hard to see that being the case. And it seems to be getting worse and worse.

That being said though, this has been a great thread today filled with angst!

Is Harris still not able to pitch? I am only asking because I thought he would have been available more in the last series and I DVR most of the time through the rough stuff so I tend to miss some commentary.

Pronounced, or spelled?

I'm ignorant to that word, possibly on both accounts.

No they're not around for the post season. But there's still games to get through before then. How many times have we seen Hoyt, Feliz or Sipp pitch us into trouble with a lead and Devo or Harris etc have to come clean up the mess those guys made when they otherwise wouldn't have pitched. It's either that or let them continue to blow leads.

The last couple years we've seen some guys fade as we got into the late months. Our bullpen was dominant in April and May when they were fresh. We know what they can be at 100%. My thinking is that it would have been nice to have another reliable arm or two to shoulder some of the load and 1) help us continue to win in the short term 2) stack the odds in our favor for the post season.

No bullpen is perfect. Everybody has filler that isn't very good. But wouldn't you have felt better if instead of Feliz or Hoyt when Devo and Harris don't have to pitch, we could have sent out Madson or Swarzak or Kintzler.

Royals were 13-3 at home between the 2014/2015 postseason with the 2015 postseason ending in a world series victory and of course the Astros lost the ALDS against them in the 2014 season when they the Royals were the better seed.

I would prefer not to have to play the Kansas City Royals in Kansas City because of their recent history in the postseason in Kansas City.

As for the Indians, our 1-5 record this season against the Indians speaks for itself.

The Astros could literally win every single game left and they might still have to play Kansas City and Cleveland in the postseason. Which means playing games in Kansas City and Cleveland, because you can't host every game of a playoff series. I still feel like you're trying to frick with people

Also the Astros didn't make the playoffs in 2014. I'll stop responding now
