None of you wanted to give up Tucker, Whitley, etc. but you wanted the return that those guys would have given you.

You can't get a Gray/Darvish/Quintana type return WITHOUT giving up 1 or both of those guys. I think the trade market proved that.

Well apparently for Gray and Quintana you can and if I have settled into Fisher being a starter then YES I give up Tucker for it.

If 1 gets "right" doesn't that still give you 2 good starters and 3 not good ones?

Yes you need to have 2 legitimate starters that can give you 2 games of 6-7 innings in a playoff series makes you a legit contender for the WS. A trade+ 1 getting right ensures that

We do not have that NOR do we have a shut down bullpen that gets you from the 5th or 6th to the 9th game in game out.

FAILURE!

I can just hear it now, Ludlow is going to come out and publicly say the team feels they can win with the players they currently have. Crock of shite!!

Guess Liriano gets to start for the Astros after all.

Quintana was traded for a consensus top 5 prospect and some others.

The A's wanted a true CF, we don't have many of those in the organization.

I'd like to welcome everyone to the dark side. Some of us have been ahead of the curve on Geoffrey Ludlow. Minor League championships matter!

Yet you still want to horde prospects even though our lineup is tied down for 2-3 more years.
