Stassi has career platoon written all over him.
Career backup.
And there's nothing wrong with that.
His hitting vs LH pitching can't keep this pace, but if it even remotely becomes a strength long term, he has a long career ahead of him.

With his pitch framing abilities, all he really needs to do is control the running game and pick up a few hits here and there, doesn’t have to be a world beater at the plate

I really enjoyed watching him pitch, amazing how his career derailed once he lost a little speed.

So you are contending team do you go after
Machado, Moustakas, or Beltre
Machado would take an arm and a leg, Moustakas and Beltre would take less but Beltre would have to approve and he is injury prone at this point.

I remember a start a couple years ago when he was with the angels and we were lighting him up....dude looked like he was going to cry on the mound.....looked like he had absolutely no clue where to go from there

I thought for sure dude would be Hall of Fame but he career hit a wall. After two CY Young awards and some MVP votes, it was shocking. Tim is about to be released from Triple-A, so I doubt he ever sees the majors again.

Has Gattis officially "retired" from catching?
Posted on 5/29/18 at 11:12 am to LSUGrad9295
Nope, neither has Napoli

Federowicz is our guy. Looks like stasis will be the everyday guy for the time being. Was hoping to give Gattis catcher duties and call up Mr. White.

Gattis cant throw anyone out, and swings wildly between hot and cold at the plate. Agree that McCann is on his last leg.
Astros have to prioritize in a 5th Starter, a Closer, and hopefully a switch hitting Catcher.

I would expect some young arms to be tested for possible playoff bullpen roles.
Paulino and possibly James?

A 5th starter a priority? No. Need a closer (still say we have one in McCullers and move McHugh to 5th starter) and another bat. Done. Championship.

Almost inclined to move GOATcock to the 5th starter role. McHugh has looked good in the pen and Brad has shown he's a middle of the rotation caliber starer. That all being said, I don't really care who it'd be between the two but McCullers could be deadly as a closer.

I have said this before, but zero chance they make that move without lmj freaking out. I agree we should do it and I bet so does the front office, but they won’t do it.

Agree. And hes such a mentally fragile guy it would break him....which that fact makes me wonder how he would handle the pressure of a big 9th and then having to come back out after a massive blowup. Ill give Giles this. Hes taken his beatings like a man this year and came out the next outing and looked great.
The other side is with the fastball control/command and changeup hes developed this year he has developed a repertoire that will continue to play in a starters role.

I would also include Armenteros, Whitley, and even Martes

The Astros have officially retired Gattis from catching.
After hearing Strom speak at a fundraiser, I feel confident in saying Gattis has caught his last significant pitch for the Astros

I haven't seen a date for their return. Has anything been announced?
Posted on 5/29/18 at 12:31 pm to TrapperJohn
I only heard there was a 2 week delay on Whitley's expected return from the 50 day suspension, which is insignificant in regards to prepping him for a possible post-season run

And Cionel Perez, who is already on the 40-man.
