As fun as it always is to beat the Yankees it’s time focus on tonight’s game. It’s an important contest with Severino going tomorrow. CFM looks to take care of business against the ageless Sabathia.

I hope JD gets another start... and expect to see Stassi behind the plate.

McCann is 1 for his last 26.

I think he’s on his last leg. He is aging rapidly. Power numbers are down. Slower with every step he takes out of the box. The shift has taken away any chances for consistent offense from him.

Stassi should be the every day catcher.

Stassi is still only hitting .173 against righties, although his .231 BABIP indicates some bad luck.

Meanwhile he's up to .536 against lefties, with a .667 BABIP.

ETA: McCann, oddly enough, is also struggling against righties but hitting lefties well. So they don't even make for a good platoon.

So...I will give ludlow some credit here.....

In the last 28 days Evan Gattis has a slashline of .296/.361/.630. OPS of .991. In fact you could argue that hes actually had some bad luck as his BABIP is .282.

Didn't Bregman catch in high school? Maybe he could platoon with Stassi?

The Astros plan to select the contract of catcher Tim Federowicz from Triple A Fresno. Brian McCann is going on the DL.

Looks like Stassi will get a whole bunch of playing time

McCann just got put on the 10 day with knee soreness. May literally be on his last leg now. Not sure of corresponding move.

I expect a rotation of DL moves that will include at some point Keuchel, Morton, and McCullers

Outside of the horses Verlander and Cole, I think it's important to keep the innings down.

Coinciding with the DL moves, I would expect some young arms to be tested for possible playoff bullpen roles.

I love stassi at catcher, but his minor league hitting numbers tend to say he is on a hit streak right now and will cool off. He never had a crazy good year hitting in the minors. I think

.245 12-15 homeruns will be a max year for him.
