In Joe Smith's defense, he had also been cheerleading pretty hard on social media for the stros throughout the year

I completely understand why he opted out. Also he’s under contract for like 4 mil and has been pretty good in the past so it’s at least one cheap competent reliever addition we should be getting

Yep. He has no issue with Mookie or Chuck Salt having played for teams that were punished for sign stealing.

No other players or media have issues with Keuchel, Marwin, Kemp, Harris, etc or anyone else who has left.

Springer will be one of the most coveted free agents out there. I mean we had the Boston bitch on here yesterday jacking himself off because the cheaters lost, yet in the next breath he’s hoping Springer signs with the Red Sox. That shitposting Cubs pussy was dogging Correa but I guarantee would trade anyone on the Cubs roster for him and be the first one in line to buy a jersey.

Cora and Hinch are rumored to be strong candidates for other jobs in 2021.

It reaks of hypocrisy. Why aren’t we seeing stories like “Teams Reluctant To Sign Former Astros?” Why aren’t we seeing these holier than thou sportswriters chastising teams for even thinking about it? Just like “Chapman ok/Osuna not ok”

frick them all.

Good stuff... I don't see them paying Devo, and I don't know anything about Pruitt's health so I'm leaving him out for now. I see this as their 8 man pen as it stands:

Pressly
Taylor (L)
Paredes
Smith
Raley (L)
James
Scrubb
Sneed

Gotta add 3 arms right? One needs to be an experienced late inning guy IMO. My liver can't handle 9th inning Pressly.

Adding a 9th inning guy would be big.

Adding a 5th starter moves Javier to the bullpen and he could be a great setup option along with Paredes and Pressly.

ETA: Garcia is a question mark... I can see them putting him back to the minors to get more experience starting rather than having him languish in the bullpen.

Yeah, same thing I thought about Garcia. He's a better option than Sneed, but he's better off getting seasoned in RR than coming in during blowouts.

I like Javier in the bullpen, just seems like those fringe starters can be expensive compared to bullpen guys. I'd love it for the right price. I know Gausman has been mentioned. That'd be great.

I’d much rather see Garcia still develop as a starter and he could be some depth on that front when injuries happen. Realistically you need at least 8 or so guys you trust starting games in a 162 game season these days with the injuries which is why I think they should definitely be in the market for at least one guy in FA. I’d like to see Javier in the Peacock role as a fringe starter/long reliever if everyone is healthy.

Great summary on the 40 man above and I’ll probably add that to my first post

Probably needs some updates as well. I think Javier passed the rookie threshold.

I can confirm Via sources that he has no massive grudge against the stros.

We need to bring the boy home where he belongs.

Nothing personal with Joe Smith, and he did a mostly good job to my recollection.

But I don’t see his opt out any differently than David Price or Andrelton Simmons.

I’ve seen the story on his relationship with his mother, sorry to hear she passed. Taking the season off to have sex w Allie LaForce, while grieving for your mother is admirable.

But it also tells me I don’t need the money and winning a championship with my teammates when their window of opportunity is closing just isn’t that important to me.

His teammates probably didn’t see it that way. Hell, truth be known, they might mostly have felt the same
way he did during the regular season, but I saw some collective effort in the playoffs.

I look at David Price, and I think of Manny Machado hitting singles off the OF wall. Simmons left the Angels with like 5 games left in the season, when they were only 3 games out of a playoff spot.

OF will be a concern but I wouldn't mind signing Profar as he was pretty good last year with the Padres and has some position versatility.

Don't be surprised if that's exactly who they sign.

Profar would be a good addition, he can play basically anywhere and has been above league average at the plate two of the last three seasons.
