That interview was very interesting. It's bizarre to me that Luhnow didn't know what was going on.

I also find it wild that lower level employees would have the nuts to formulate and execute a plan like this with no upper management involvement, the coaches (Cora) and players (Beltran etc) must have really been leaning on these guys to provide the information.

The part about texting the signs to a coach and then getting that information out to the runner at second lines up directly with that Girardi clip from MLB Network where he explains what they did so there is definitely some truth to the Beltran saying they were behind the times stuff.

Gotta say looking at the 40 man roster, we're actually in pretty damn good shape the next few years, better than I expected. Gonna need some OFs if we don't sign Brantley and/or Springer, but I'm confident everywhere else. We'll see what Click is made of and see who he signs/trades for. Hope he does well.

I feel the same way, there is just no way he was completely oblivious to it.

Profar would be a good addition, he can play basically anywhere and has been above league average at the plate two of the last three seasons.

Agree. He might be an affordable CF solution.

Plausible deniability. That's why Luhnow didn't know. He mentioned several times that folks said something to him about it. He then generally asked a few guys who didn't tell him. Then he let it go. He didn't want to know and didn't try to find out. I believe Luhnow had lots of clues, but didn't look very hard.

And about the damn emails...I get several hundred emails a day. I'm sure many of you do as well. If you click, you better look and read or at the very least, skim. I don't buy that shite he's selling.

Meanwhile the "Mookie is so super dreamy and wonderful" puff pieces have begun

quote:

ICYMI LINK /…… Mookie Betts is not Willie Mays, but he is OUR Willie Mays in not only five-tool talent, but a feel for the game as if the speed is conforming to what he wants

quote:

I’ve never seen anybody as committed. He’s Michael Jordan-esque when it comes to the commitment. At first it was just him, but now that he’s with the Dodgers, he seems to be calling on teammates to improve. That’s like Jordan in ‘The Last Dance’ level

quote:

Like Michael Jordan in ‘The Last Dance’" This great piece by

@pedromoura

is the best story I've ever read about what makes Mookie tick - and how his presence and leadership have grown with the #Dodgers

I forget, now was he previously on a team that was punished for violating the sign stealing policies multiple times? Shhhh. He plays for the Dodgers now. He's perfect. They're perfect.

Yeah, I remember when Cora was interviewed during that 2018 season and he specifically addressed some changes he recommended to Betts in his approach at the plate.

IIRC, he had some pretty decent numbers that year.

But they never mention anything about whether he knew what pitch was coming.

I haven't seen any breakdowns of the Red Sox before and after Cora.

America's team. Don't you dare blaspheme them. We should all consider ourselves lucky to have Dustin May on our TV screens.

May is singlehandedly responsible for me becoming more aware of where the settings for brightness, tone, and tint are located on my control

It’s hilarious how Mookie just gets a pass for being a shitty postseason hitter.

Maybe he will rise up in this World Series, but his track record in the postseason is very pedestrian. .722 OPS, 1 homer, 9 RBI, 13 2B’s in 33 games.

Elite postseason defensive player though

With that said, I will be pulling for Mookie and the Dodgers this series, placed a wager on the Big 3 (Dodgers, Yankees, Astros) to win the WS at -120 back in March.

Unless you have 4 digits on the bet, I would pay to see the Dodgers lose

But they are the best collection of talent presently.

Rays don’t make enough contact, and Dodgers pitching is better than Astros. Our young guys did great, but the Rays made them look better than they are

Nope.

I will get almost as much enjoyment in watching them lose as I would have in watching the Astros win.

The dodgers are probably smart enough to pitch around the one guy that can beat them

Maybe Brandon Lowe will finally break out of that slump.

Did you guys realize that he was slumping?

What will the shadows be like at the Arlington Warehouse

I am definitely rooting for Tampa. Chuck is probably my favorite non Astro and I like their team overall

I think Slump is his nickname

Gurriel and Bregman were just overmatched by the best pen in baseball

It’s not much but it’s enough for me to be okay with the Dodgers winning, then I can reverse troll about them having an asterisk World Series. Win win

In all honesty this is a horrible matchup for the Rays. Rays swung and missed against a bunch of rookies with slightly above average stuff, now they are facing elite bullpen arms and very good starters. Dodgers don’t have much swing and miss and battle like hell at the plate and don’t have a bottomless pit in the bottom of their lineup like the Astros did. I think it will be a lot of tight games but the Dodgers win in 5

I don’t expect the games to be all that tight, but with Dave Roberts history of pitching moves, anything is possible

Maybe after making all the same moves in all of those losses in big games, he has learned enough through negative reinforcement

Luhnow is a liar. This should surprise no one. I’m just surprised he hasn’t tried to blame others for picking Mark Appel and Forrest Whitley in the first round.
