Smith, Devo, and Pruitt are all under contract for 2021.

He takes up a roster spot. That makes him too expensive.

Where/When is the interview?

Sounds like he's distancing himself, staking firmly in "i didn't know" territory claiming the players specifically kept it from getting to him and knew the magnitude of what they had going on.

Couple questions I have on my mind going into the offseason right now:
1) Maldy is under contract for us next year right? I believe he is but not 100%. I am completely fine with that because I think he is a better C than some of yall on here say and I think he is a great fit. I would have loved James McCann if we need a C, but Maldy is serviceable.
2) What do we predict will happen with Forrest Whitley? We all thought he would be up with us by now a couple years ago, but he hasn't been good, hasn't been healthy, and has been suspended in that time frame so I don't know what to make of it. I still he has a ton of talent and with young pitchers coming up for us and showing success, especially this year, I'm not giving up on him yet. Kind of like Tucker.

I think if Springer is gone then I could see us making a run at McCann. Frees up some money for potential 2 + 1 deal with team option and allows us to still add bullpen pieces and an OF.
As far as Whitley goes I think it's a make it or break it year. I know he's young but he has got to figure it out sooner or later

Yes.
The Astros still own the rights to Garneau as well, but I would expect him to be released.

I'm not counting on anything. I definitely wouldn't give up on him either, he'll be on the 40-man and probably start in AAA.
I really didn't know Luhnow's background (prior to the Cardinals) until recently. It is amazing what a guy with absolutely no baseball background was able to accomplish. I'll be curious if he stays in baseball, because he will definitely have some serious interest from companies in the private sector going forward.

The book about the 2017 Astros World Series and the rebuild by Ben Reiter goes into a ton of detail about Luhnow's and Sig Mejdal (Orioles assistant general manager) backgrounds. Pretty interesting stuff

Trade Bregman so that we can resign Springer and extend Correa. Thank Brantley for his dependable contributions. Laugh in Reddicks face if his agent calls.

Not sure how I feel about an opted out player, but it ain’t good
I’m not sure if you’re referring to Joe Smith, but it wasn’t your typical opt out. I forget the exact details but I want to say his mom passed away (or is suffering from) Huntington’s disease and he and his wife were trying to have a child which is very complicated since Huntington’s is genetic. I 100% understand being weary of covid under those circumstances
Harris is at Texas now.
If you thought golf was hard now.
