I think you may remember I said 2 for 32 or even greater

He is that valuable

I mean, think about it, that's 3 M more per yr than we paid Reddick

Yeah I’m surprised he got that much. I think I said 2/24 or something I don’t remember. Regardless it’s worth it. Need to find a capable CF

Springer got a lot too, more than I thought he would. Teams are still shelling out for the top guys it seems it’s just slower for the just above replacement types who can be filled by system depth

Sorry. Brantley is a nice guy and all but this isn't moving the needle. Click/Crane throwing the fans some peanuts from radio row behind the plate. There is a reason they extended Dusty without question. There is more disappointment on the way.

I'm ready to ride with just one more bargain arm and a serviceable backup C

And in serviceable, I mean .240 w 10 HRs in a full season with an arm that can reach the mound

I would promise to not say a single negative word about his first 125 strike outs. After that, I make no promises.

As for now, I am a huge AJHinch fan... come on AJ, get Detroit to sign Jason Castro so we don’t have to worry about him again.

So with Brantley in LF and Tucker in RF, we're going to need some defensive coverage in CF. I think the Brantley signing rules out someone more costly like Jackie Bradley. Some potential options for CF still on the market...

Brett Gardner
Joc Peterson
Jackie Bradley
Jake Marisnick
Kevin Pillar
Brian Goodwin
Delino Deshields
Cameron Maybin
Tyler Naquin

My guess is Kevin Pillar is your next CF.

I cannot wait to get triggered and call him a useless jackass the first time that happens.

How many times does Castro get ejected for arguing a strikeout looking on a pitch that statcast has at the belt across the middle of the plate?

After swinging at the 2 previous pitches well out of the zone

As a recovered Castro basher from his previous stint w the Astros, I think it's important to realize his role is as a backup this time around

His production, when put up against the likes of Garneau et al, would make him an All-Star

He does have some pop for those times he reaches base safely, and will be far superior defensively to any of our previous playoff contending teams as a backup C

For real, though, he might work as a one-year option, but I wouldn't trust him to be anything more than Reddick 2.0, if he can stay healthy.

Joc Peterson

Exactly the sort of high strikeout, low average guy I'd try to avoid... plus he hasn't played much CF since 2017.

quote:

Jackie Bradley

Joc Pederson with less power and a better glove.

quote:

Jake Marisnick

Great hair.

quote:

Kevin Pillar

Doesn't hit for a great average, allergic to taking walks, but grades out as a better defensive CF than Bradley. And he doesn't strike out much, which is a plus.

quote:

Brian Goodwin

Only has one full season under his belt, it was unimpressive, and he's a crap CF. Next.

Delino Deshields

You can't steal first base.

Cameron Maybin

There's a reason you've been through 9 teams... but thanks for 2017, we'll never forget.

quote:

Tyler Naquin

About as league average of a player as you can find... which might make him a prime candidate here. And he's he second youngest of the bunch behind Joc.
