Take away the fact he is a MLB player... that hair alone will pull in an all you can eat buffet of model-want-to-be arse (and even dingalings, if you’re into that sort of thing) on South Beach.

How will he get a hat on that? Safety pins?

Like Kimbrel as a player, but hard hard pass from me too.

He’s a red bearded Carlos Gomez with better mound presence and sweeter swing.

Good stuff from Not Tags via tAthletic:

quote:

When he watches Marisnick this spring, Hinch said he’ll most pay attention to the outfielder’s posture in the batter’s box.

“It’s something that Alex Cintrón has talked to me about early in the spring, to try to get him a little bit less upright and a little bit more into his posture, a little bend at the waist, which will allow him to have some clearance inside,” Hinch said. “His first movement has often been under the ball, and I think if we can eliminate that we’ll see his contact rate go a little bit higher and see him move the ball around the field a little bit. He’s got tremendous power but the swing and miss, especially up in the zone, can sometimes be created by your posture and just how you get into the hitting zone.”

Imagine if we have a good hitting coach now.

Machado to Padres.

What’s the chances that Keuchel signs that 2 yr deal with the good guys?

Kind of don't want. If Keuchel returns, you figure Josh James is the odd man out. I'm more willing to roll the dice on James potential than pay Keuchel big bucks.

I would be fine with a one year deal for DK. Let James be in the BP this year. Plus we always need more than 5 pitchers. If you can get DK for a deal you do it.

I get you... but what are the chances of James AND Whitley both being better than Keuchel this year?

I have little faith that Jabroni keeps his job as a starter.

I think a sweetheart deal would be a no brainer, but otherwise makes no sense, and definitely not beyond one year with a team option, which I feel is unlikely.

Keuchel has too much pride to do that, IMO.

He would take similar money elsewhere if it came to that.

At least you know what you’re getting with Keuchel. I’d rather leave James in the 5 spot and send Jabroni back to the pen. He was great there last year.

That’s kind of what I was thinking.

I consume far fewer Tums with Relief Jabroni than I did with Starter Jabroni.

Yeah, it would actually be wise for him to go somewhere else and prove himself if he has to settle for a one-year deal. The Phillies, who need starting pitching bad, may lock him up fast if they miss out on Harper though.

Y’all read this SI piece on your boy?
quote:

For 20 years Bauer has engineered himself for one task only: to throw a baseball. Despite the time of day at which he likes to begin his pitching sessions, he doesn’t smoke anything; he’s never been drunk; his haircut is a number 3, all the way around; he can’t throw a football 10 yards.

quote:

A current outrage for Bauer is what he is certain is the widespread use among major league pitchers of foreign -substances—particularly a pine tar–rosin blend called Pelican Grip Dip—to make their fastballs spin more and consequently get hit less. Such substances, smuggled to the mound by belt buckle or glove or hair, are banned, but umpires check for them only at a manager’s request. Bauer believes skippers don’t because their own hurlers are sticky-fingered too. He says, “If I used that s---, I’d be the best pitcher in the big leagues. I’d be unhittable. But I have morals.”

quote:

When Bauer meets a potential romantic partner, he outlines for her the parameters of any possible relationship on their very first date. “I have three rules,” he says. “One: no feelings. As soon as I sense you’re developing feelings, I’m going to cut it off, because I’m not interested in a relationship and I’m emotionally unavailable. Two: no social media posts about me while we’re together, because private life stays private. Three: I sleep with other people. I’m going to continue to sleep with other people. If you’re not O.K. with that, we won’t sleep together, and that’s perfectly fine. We can just be perfectly polite platonic friends.”
