Give them Whitley and let's be done with it.

Consider: Wandy Rodriguez
I was watching some old highlights and was reminded of the years where Wandy was a really solid LH starter.
LINK
2008-2012 57-55 3.48 ERA 7.8 K/9 2.9 BB/9 898 hits and HR allowed I'm 934.2IP
Wandy wasn't a strikeout pitcher but when that curve was on he could drop it on a backfoot and get his share of chases. "Prime" Wandy would be a perfect addition to the back end of our current group.

Are you thinking of Carlos Gomez?
Let this be a lesson to all, shame bell upon me.

Whitley is untouchable Barring serious long term controllable talent.

Astros and Gattis settle at $6.7 million, avoiding arbitration.
Also, Luhnow says it's unlikely that we'll acquire another catcher and Max Stassi will get the first shot at the backup role.

I think Luhnow intends Stassi to get his last chance followed by Lorenzo Quintana. If neither work out, July trade.

$13.6 million settlement for Keuchel.

Everybody but Jabroni, Giles, and Springer reached settlements
Jabroni files at $5M, Astros at $4.55M
Giles files at $4.6M, Astros at $4.2M
George files at $10.5M, Astros $8.5M
Kind’ve a big difference for George’s numbers. I hate when arb cases don’t get settled because I always fear it will lead to bad blood between player and the team
It’s basically the team saying they don’t think you’re worth that amount and them presenting their argument
I know players understand the whole business aspect, especially seeing how Luhnow has worked over the years...but Springer is most valuable member of that locker room imo

Giles hearing:
Player's side: "Regular season!"
Team's side: "Playoffs..."

Surprised so many teams will go to arb when the difference is pretty small between what each side is asking. But then I see other cases around the league like this..

folty files at $2.3M, braves at $2.2M

Hard to believe Astros couldn't have settled w Springer. I would think they could have went to 10 just to avoid any chance of bad blood.
And maybe they did, but Springer knows he wins in a slam dunk, regardless of his number.
Astros may have low balled it with a wink, ensuring he gets his number.

I’d guess
Astros win over Colin and Giles
George wins over Astros

@LangoschMLB
Asked who would be the #STLCards closer if the season opened today, John Mozeliak said it'd likely be Luke Gregerson.
