I would LOVE Santana. Someone who gets on base a lot and gets 25-30 HRs a year. I wouldn't mind having him for 3 years, but I'm sure he would get more money elsewhere, plus we have more important needs than him though.

Hard to see us signing a bat unless the FO thinks they have a steal (aka super cheap).

Let Moran, White, Davis and Fisher duke it out for at bats.

Spend cash on relievers.

With our best WS relief performances coming from our rotation during the season, it will be interesting to see how we handle any off season acquisitions.

I don't see us tying up any money in big names.

I could however see a C signing, possibly even a multi-year deal. The days of Gattis getting behind the plate may have gone with Beltran's glove.

I'm on the Moran train, too. I like them both. They're ready.

Moran, Fisher, White... Someone out of this group is gonna be a damn good ball player.

I mean if we’re being honest, it’s just as likely that they all 3 are replacement level players.

But Moran and fisher have showed some signs. I think White has hit is ceiling, he was still doing the flinching thing this year.

Moran probably has the most *likely* upside, a guy who once hit for contact is now hitting with some power.

Obviously Fisher has the highest theoretical ceiling. Speed/Power combo that is rare, similar to George with worse defense.

Moran has a legit hit tool, and now he is using the right approach to best tap into it. I think he can be John Olerud 2.0.

@JesseSanchezMLB:
Sources: Astros nearing deal on catcher Lorenzo Quintana, 28, from Cuba on deal in $200K range. Bat first with good glove. Backup profile.

Can't mind much on this cat. He defected from Cooba 2 years ago. Not sure what he's been up to since. I mean I'm sure they're not signing a 28 year old to toil around in the minors for a few years.

No clue. Also, would anyone be opposed to Bautista replacing Beltran as a DH?

No, let Gattis get more ABs this year at DH. Use the money you would spend on a guy like him to improve the Pen and start looking into locking down some of our young stars.

Only when we play Texas.

I think he's going to want (and probably get) more than he's worth, but maybe if no one bites and it's a 1 year deal. He is 37 after all, with a declining skill set.

And he sucks now. I expect to fill any lineup holes internally, and focus on the bullpen. Then in July, if someone isn’t getting the job done, we could trade for a bat along with more ‘pen help.
