I agree. I think he would go well as a backend guy there or in KC

San Diego would probably be the most ideal fit for Fiers. He's cost controlled and at the very least he can eat innings. But that's a big ballpark and the ball doesn't carry a ton at night out there. He could find some success there.

I can dream can't I? I expect some regression back to the pack but imagine this group with Santana at DH instead of Beltran. That'd be fun. But you're probably right. It won't be our lineup. Gattis back to DH makes more sense than anything.

Part of the winning model from here forward may include keeping your starters innings down as you cycle them through the DL. We don't need to be involved in the starters market, but I'm not sure we're necessarily sitting with a surplus of them either.

This team was a prime example of the importance of depth at starting pitcher. Fiers and Peacock were after thoughts at different points during the season and both ended up stepping up and carrying us at times. And then of course the starters in the pen in the post season.

Yeah a 3 year deal might be doable. And the market always seems softer than expected on DH/AL only types though he's playable at 1B now.

Guys who hit 25-30 home runs with an even K/BB ratio don't grow on trees though he would be my dream scenario bat to add to our lineup honestly

Santana would be a huge upgrade over Bird IMO

I wouldn’t be opposed to Santana if it didn’t make signing our studs more difficult financially, but we have a position player logjam so I just can’t see it happening

A lot of people thought his power output in his brief time up in 2015 was unsustainable (11 hrs in 160ish Abs). No one is really mentioning that he was pretty close to that same pace again this season despite that ridiculously bad start. Think he had 1 hr after the first month while playing with the hurt ankle. His end of year numbers ended up being 9 HRs in 150ish ABs.

I think his power is going to play up as long as his home stadium is the Bronx. 30+ HRs with a decent glove at 1st.

After one of the playoff games that Bird homered in this season, a reporter asked Judge if he was surprised with Birds hitting. Judge replied something like no because Bird is the best hitter on the team when healthy.

Yanks will be OK with him if he can beat that injury bug.
