Liriano pitched like shite in August, but settled into the role in September.
The main difference was cutting down on the walks... maybe it just took him a while to adjust to coming out of the pen.
It's not a terrible idea, but it's more like a plan B or C.
If Liriano even wants to be a LOOGY... he might be looking to sign elsewhere with a chance to start again.

I don’t think we have room on the roster for signing a BOR starter. We have 5 starters, a couple of relievers who can spot start and Martes and Armenteros in AAA.

Looking at a 28 yo catcher from Cuba.

200k for this Cuban catcher. offense first. Looks like a backup. This is per Jesse Sanchez.

I honestly don't mind Liriano as a loogy. He got straightened up down the stretch and despite our reservations had 2 huge loogy outs in the World Series. Give him a full off seasons and he can be adjusted to the bullpen role at a solid level IMO

Lol Rangers. Do we rebuild or just keep throwing $100 million dollar contracts around?

I pray they sign Arrieta. 32 year old developing a home run problem in that ballpark? They’d regret it by 2019 if not earlier.

Hopefully keep throwing around 100 million dollar contracts

Are people not high on Centeno? Not a great backstop but has a great arm and a little bit of pop to his bat as we saw.
Eta: lol nah his CS% is nowhere near what I thought it was... basically bordering on McCann bad.

Yeah just feel like whatever we have seen from him is a small sample size and not really sure how he is projected
With the plethora of arms in the rotation, wouldn’t it make sense to try and deal Fiers to a team needing an innings eater? Perhaps include him in something for Brad Hand

How much will Lucroy fetch in FA?
ETA: imagine him and McCann splitting time 50/50 so they’d be always be fresh...not to mention the benefit of them working with our young pitchers

Rangers are in a weird spot. Beltre ain't gettin any younger odor just flopped after a big contract Hamels started showing his age their pitching prospects haven't panned out and they traded significant minor league assets going all in last two years. Elvis and mazara are solid pieces and Gallo I guess has a role in today's league. They have some pieces that if they hold off the age bug and others have bounce back years then they can be solid but the championship level window may be gone. If you want one more first round exit off into the sunset then they have to pay up otherwise they have to sell off and suck for the near future

Stole this from the MLB offseason thread...
But I wouldn’t mind getting him for dirt cheap if possible considering how pitchers can come back stronger from TJ. Look at Greg Holland last season..

I think we will try to deal Fiers and non tender him if we can't

Flyball Fiers makes perfect sense for a club like the Giants or Padres.

Meh. I don't want him. He was bad this season, and I don't see him getting better anymore.
