So let it be written, so let it be done. He's either a fully committed troll or a truly miserable person. Dude fricking hates the team he covers.

He's a good writer, and his longform pieces always well done. But my word he's an unlikable person. I'm not looking for a beat writer to be a homer, but he comes off as antagonistic towards the FO.
Try to keep the team honest and ask the difficult questions, but just be less of a dick.

No it isn't. it is antogonistic. He is simply playing a role to get the Astros fans fired up.
Objectivity would be to state the facts from both perspectives without commentary.
He provides commentary from only one viewpoint -- HIS. There is nothing objective about it.
If you can't see that, then I think that clearly demonstrates why so many people get irritated with you too. Many times you have some very insightful things to say, and when you do, even if I don't agree with you, I enjoy your opinion. There's nothing wrong with trying to voice an opinion of doubt -- we all do that. But it isn't objectivity when you only acknowledge one viewpoint.
No, I'm not mad. I'm merely being objective.

Ok. He's paid to write about the team. I don't view what he does as antagonistic and I don't believe the FO does either. He's very fair...seems most of the fans are just happy to not be in last place and expect all media to do what mctaggart does and wave pom poms. It's never a bad thing to have media covering the team that are willing to disagree with decisions and question plans. I appreciate it. He won't always be correct but I think it's wrong to say he's a bich or intentionally antogonizing. I don't think lunhow or hunch would feel that way either.

He's not objective in the least bit. His agenda is tilted towards the fallacy that he's created. He's stuck to the narrative that the Astros and Jim Crane are cheap and completely unwilling to spend.
Never mind the fact that the team was 6 outs away from eliminating the eventual champions and advancing to the ALCS. I'm curious which area Drellich wanted the Astros to throw money at. According to McTaggart, our 2016 payroll should be right around 100 million. That's right around middle of the pack in MLB. Hardly fits in with Drellich's whining about how cheap the team is. That's before the sure to be substantial contracts the team will certainly offer Keuchel and Springer and eventually Correa's mega deal.
His whining today is about letting Jed Lowrie go and what we got for doing that. Something about letting a competent, cheap ML player go for nothing. Reminder the team made the playoffs and competed largely without Jed. We got 2 good weeks of Jed, then he missed most of the season and was terrible when he came back. Total non factor.
The Astros currently have the built in advantage that their best players who are the Corp of this team competing are on rookie contracts. We don't have an absurd payroll because those players are cost controlled. He's whining for the sake of whining.
He carries on about did the team get better this off season by doing very little and letting go of players like Carter and Jed. Well let's consider that we've got a full year of Correa and McCullers which we didn't have for the early months of 2015. Plus we lost one of our best players in Springer for 2 months and a potentially elite closer in Giles.

Perfect. Plain and to the point. Spot on.
I anxiously await someone's expected idiotic response.

He's irrelevant to me as an Astros writer. And as far as bitching about payroll, we've increased it by around 50-60 million compared to 2 years ago. I don't want to go full Padres and balloon the payroll to get players we shouldn't waste money on

Idk if y'all saw the chron article from a few days ago about some of the new food items and other amenities....most importantly MMP has finally got with the times and apparently added stadium wifi
Posted on 2/15/16 at 3:57 pm to 5 Deep
I'm still disappointed the stadium renovations didn't happen
Hopefully this next offseason. I really like what they had planned and the hill is dumb

The DAT doesn't need spring training. I have a feeling we're about to hit mid season stride already.

USA Today's projected standings came out today.

Entirely too positive right now. We need a Wednesday night/early morning blown save melt down dat before we are truly rolling

Our first month (really the whole first half) of the season is pretty damn tough. Outside of the Brewers, we play all teams projected to be over .500 as well as the Astro killer A's
If we can hang around through that and then find a way to go on a nice little win streak in May/June I really like our chances. It's a pretty tough schedule though since we're playing the NL central in inter league
ETA: this is our April schedule
@NYY
@MIL
vs KC
vs DET
@TEX
vs BOS
@SEA
@OAK

Id just love it if we could peacefully exist within the DAT this season.
Last season...
1. We witnessed World War Prom/Ryno number 478,546
2. Started a dick measuring contest with the Cubs
3. Let the few Rangers fans on this board cause a melt that was subsequently exploited all across the MSB.
4. Bit on multiple Lester Earl troll jobs
Embarrassing.
We've got a good team. So let's walk into 2016 with our dicks quietly swinging.
