The more I watch it on loop, the better it is….
Tuckers home run last night sealed the series, but the truth is that Maldanado’s mow down is the real nail in the coffin.

I'm stunned by how bad the schedule is today, and even worse, by how bad the early announcing lineup is. Every game on the major channels has a terrible announcing duo, almost as bad as Buck and Smoltz. The TV is on mute.

Based on the way the pitching staff could get a starting pitcher past the fourth for about 5 games going back to the ALDS, can you blame us? The way the series was trending, more offense was needed, the offense had struggled a little and Maldonado was scuffling on offense. Hindsight is 20-20.

but Maldy not hitting wasn't the problem
1,2,3 had a terrible series, THAT was the offense's problem.if 1,2,3 are sub 200 what the #9 does is irrelevant And with the pitching woes Maldys defense familiarity was ever more important
I don't have to look behind me to see clearly Im a baseball genius

But if 1 2 and 3 are struggling, you need other guys to step up. You can't just carry a black hole in the lineup when other guys are struggling. It's quite rare when everyone in your lineup is going to hit at the same time.
And Castro had the big hit in Game 4 that essentially ensured the series turnaround. Maldonado also gets a little too much credit for pitch-calling, Castro has been a good pitch-framer in his career, and the Red Sox aren't known for being a running team, which nullifies Maldonado's value as a run-stopper. Cora helped with that last night, by sending the runner down 2 in the eighth, which was a panic move.
Maldonado's play last night was a dagger, but to act like he was a huge difference in this series is giving him too much credit.

These mother frickers act like Castro is Babe Ruth. shite I almost rather have him as a bullet off the bench late.

Castro isn't Babe Ruth... but Maldy has been hitting like he's Randy Johnson.

I would carry Pena on the ws roster to replace Myers. Probably ends up being stubbs or Taylor Jones.

Probably going to be Bielak.

Book of Solomon please.
ETA: actually it's probably is going to be Stubbs with the pinch hitting scenarios in the NL. Let's Castro PH for Maldy without losing a backup catcher.

Just adjusted space in my office to hang the 5th pennant on my wall. 2005 NLCS, 2017 ALCS, 2017 WS, 2019 ALCS, 2021 ALCS. Hopefully in a few days I'll have to adjust them again!

That's a good point. I have to imagine Brantley is sitting in NL games with Yed en fuegonn

100% absolutely shut down what could have been a huge inning for the Red Sox. You could see it in their body language after.
They didn’t have another good AB after

It's about to rain up in Kingwood but football is going to be a lot more enjoyable today knowing we punched our ticket already.

Yeah, but that scenario already gives you an extra position player on the bench to PH. Give me Solomon.

Wonder if we will try to start Greinke in game 4 since he can hit so well. Pray we can get 3 innings out of him

I think they may have to go with Stinki since he is stretched out, unless you mean Greinke as an opener. I could see that scenario.
