Strom loves Lance, giving his seal of approval. He'll be worth the deal like hoohoo said if we get the innings out of him. Wish we trusted him mentally a bit more.

Yea it's the mental stuff that happened last year and his few playoff "blow-ups" that are extremely concerning.

Figure out a way to clean that up and he can easily out perform that deal.

I’ll say this:

Zach Wheeler got 5/118 with 3.77 ERA in 750 or so innings over 5 years

LMJ got 5/85 with 3.7 ERA in 500 or so innings in 5 years

I think the contract kind of reflects the injury/consistency issues. Don’t think it’s as much an over reach as we think

Is there any truth to the rumor that his agent put together a binder complete with pictures of pitches he plans to add once signed?

I like Lance and glad we resigned him, but that's more than I would've given him. Guess that means Correa is playing through til free agency without a new contract.

Astros offered superstar SS Carlos Correa about $120M for 6 years, and no surprise, to this point there’s no sign of traction. Assuming no deal occurs, Correa, 26 now, will be the youngest in a great free agent class. Astros did get McCullers done at $85M/5, so credit them there.

As jcmccaffrey points out $120M for 6 was the Xander Bogaerts deal

They better pay Carlos. But this LMJ deal smells like, “we can’t come close to meeting Carlos’ demands, so we’re going to over pay for another fan favorite in hopes of not pissing off the fans when Carlos walks.”

Oh. That's ummm...oh. So I guess we'll revisit this in free agency. Surely they knew there was no chance he'd take that. Particularly with Lindor's deal lingering. 6/120 is the type of extension you offer him after 2017.

I really hope that you’re reaching here.

What would you guys consider a good price per year for Correa? 25-30 million?

A base of $23M/year with incentives that can elevate it to $25M for 7 years with a couple of player options.

I dig I dig.

In terms of Correa I am okay with giving him $25 million a year but he shouldn't get over that.

6/120 is a starting point

He asks 7/210, and they settle 7/175
