Sherman, since his days with the Seattle Seahawks, has played comfortably in a Cover 3 scheme, which is a zone. Revis, who made his money as a man-to-man cornerback, discounts the 49ers cornerback’s greatness, because of what he has succeeded in.

“Every snap every play,” Revis said on Twitter. “The fact that he doesn’t travel as a cornerback is lame. [Accept] the challenge as the best and shut [Davante] Adams down the entire game. Do it for the game of football. Stop hiding [in] a cover 3 zone.”

“All y’all think I’m throwing shade,” Revis said. “I’m not. Just stating the man is not a pound for pound man to man corner. If you know the game of football he plays in a Cover 3 Scheme. He does not travel but traveling with a receiver is not for every DB. It’s a few on the corner list who can.”

He wants a 31 year old, post Achilles injury Sherman to lineup man to man against Devante Adams? Interesting strategy there

Sherman also plays the run and tackles way better than Revis though. Two completely different styles playing the same position.

Sherman has never been on the level that he thinks he is

This isn't news. Sherman has always played on the boundary, no matter where the other team's #1 WR lines up.

It’s a weird thing to throw shots about when the other dude has scoreboard too.

I lost respect for Revis when he faked an injury immediately after being made burnt toast by Randy Moss

Good on Revis for calling loudmouth Sherman our on this. Sherman was recently blabbing about “they always look for an excuse for my greatness”
But facts are facts. He’s a HOF ZONE CB.

I hope Mahomes torches that bitch in the SB. Need him humbled as much as possible before he is inevitably on a panel of talking heads for the next 3 decades post retirement

Lol last time I checked people are not inducted as "Zone" or "Man" CBs. They are inducted as CBs period. People looking to complain about Sherman playing mainly zone are people just looking to discredit him for any reason. 99% of NFL CBs would gladly be "Zone CBs" if they could have the career and achievements Sherman has. He has been the most consistent CB of the 2010s decade and will without a doubt be a HOFer. Also, last time I checked the defensive coordinator calls the plays not Sherman. It isnt like he just decided he doesnt want to play man. The coach calls the plays based on what he thinks his personnel fits best. And you cannot argue with the results of Sherman's teams, whether in Seattle or San Fran.

Sherman will come up and be an extra linebacker like CB against the run an his “zone coverage” style of pass defense is still effective. I respect DB’s that help on run defense. Run the ball, stop the run is still effective in the NFL.

I still remember Jets vs Broncos game, Revis turning away from having to try to take Tebow.

Richard Sherman has been the most overrated CB I can remember for a long time. He could never play man, and the LOB got away with so much jersey pulling and DPI it was insane. The fact that he was talked about as a potential best CB in the league for so long is mind blowing.

The whole SB shite talk is weak by Sherman. Revis has a ring...and he's retired a d probably made way more in salary than Sherman did in those 9 years.
