I mean you have to make him say no

ETA: for the “he’s already at a blue blood” crowd … Roy Williams went from Kansas to UNC

Brian Kelly from Notre Dame to lsu

They might have a better chance of going back in time and recruiting peak Phil Jackson.

He's a NE guy, I don't think he leaves, but maybe leverages it for a raise. You never know with CBB coaches though

Seems like Scott Drew or Nate Oats would be the guys they would go after.

Reading Hurley's comments about portal recruiting, I would not be shocked if he ends up trying the NBA at some point and I think he would be good at it

That would be a step down. I think it makes more sense to go after the Alabama coach. He’s done a great job at a school that isn’t really big on sports other than football.

Would Donovan come back to college for UK?

Donovan at UK would be really interesting.

I've seen Jay wrights name tossed around, but he seems like a guy in a similar mold as Hurley; a better fit in the northeast.

Dan Hurley works at UConn

That team has a heavy NE east coast feel to it.

I think he’s a great coach and UConn is a great basketball school but I feel like it’s a situation where the whole
is greater than the sum of the parts.

Maybe if all the issues with NIL didn't exist.

But I don't see any guy leaving a NBA job that they feel secure in for the current shitshow in the NCAA.

Now, of course, we don't know Donovan's situation with the Bulls and how things are internally.

Izzo said recently that NIL/portal is what really drove off guys like K and Wright. I always wanted to see Wright coach the 76ers. Ultimate philly guy move.

Billy Donovan has been away from the college game too long imo

Maybe they make a play for Matt Painter, I know he’s at his school but nothing surprises me anymore

Hurley is an outstanding coach but he's at a perfect spot in Uconn.

Hurley might use the idea for a new contract at UConn, but he's not going to Kentucky. Oats would be the guy, not Hurley.

Which would be a very easy decision on his part.

This. UCONN >>> UK in the timespan since Calhoun won that first NC. Hurley put UCONN solidly in the blue blood category with last year's NC.

Nate Oats seems like the best choice unless Billy Donovan wants it. If Donovan wants it, then it's win/win for UK and Arkansas. With the resources Cal will be getting at Arkansas for NIL and performance bonuses, he'll keep us on the map and in the tournament. I think Cal has another run or two in him. Just the splash of the hire keeps Arkansas relevant. After sucking arse for 20 years, we can't afford to take a chance on an up and comer.

He’s on the verge of winning his second natty which puts him in rare air as it is. No point in leaving what you’ve built there unless UK just throws an insane number at him

I’d think the NBA is more likely

Oates to UK, Wade to Bama would make me so sad

I think it may look something like...

Cal > Arkansas
Oats > UK
Beard > Bama
