Lol, he's not leaving UConn and not for Kentucky especially. He is a northeast guy that can win all the titles he wants right where he is at.

ETA: for the “he’s already at a blue blood” crowd … Roy Williams went from Kansas to UNC

Williams is from North Carolina, graduated from UNC, and began his coaching career at UNC where he coached for 20 years before taking the HC job at Kansas. I think it is safe to say there were significant ties that made the UNC job attractive to him beyond a large sum of money.

Brian Kelly from Notre Dame to lsu

That was solely because he felt he could not win a National Championship at Notre Dame with the recruiting restrictions in place relative to the powerhouse public schools...Alabama, Ohio State, LSU, Georgia, etc.

In your scenario Hurley would be leaving a place where he has already won a national championship and may win another tonight to go to a university with which he has zero ties. It would take the most ridiculously lucrative and one-sided contract in this history of college basketball...maybe all of college sports...to even get him to consider it. Given that UK was not planning to fire Cal because of an onerous contract I doubt they would be willing to get into a similar situation again.

Some Greenwich, Connecticut hedge fund money will make sure he doesn’t leave.

Roy Williams is a UNC Graduate & was a coach at UNC with Dean Smith, Hurley has no affiliation with Kentucky and has never coached outside of the Northeast. They’ll make Brad Stevens, Jay Wright & Billy Donovan say no but it’ll be Nate Oats job to lose.

Dan Hurley works at UConn

That team has a heavy NE east coast feel to it.

I think he’s a great coach and UConn is a great basketball school but I feel like it’s a situation where the whole
is greater than the sum of the parts.

With you on this 100%. I get that some people can't see anything besides brands, but there are guys that get it and can see that and Hurley seems like one of em

Scott Drew will be their first target.

1. Kentucky's A.D. and him know each other and like each other.

2. Drew only has a four million buy out to get out of Baylor.

3. What else is there for Drew to accomplish at Baylor? When is he ever going to be a hotter candidate for a blue blood job?
