Well, that is one of the most false statements you will ever read on this entire board, ever.

I forget how absurd NFL front offices are with respect to QB contracts.

Mediocre QBs shouldn't get elite QB money.

dak is a lot better than hurts. dak carried a team in college, not the other way around.

they are the same type of qbs, but jalen isn't even close to dak in ability. dak is seviceable in the nfl, but he isn't the optimal starting nfl qb. much better player than hurts. hurts might be a camp body or ps player if he's lucky.

Yeah - When you only start 10 games in 5 years there's no way to know if he's any good. Dak's first 16 starts indicated he was a Pro Bowl & MVP QB.

Jimmy G may be the second coming of Brock Osweiler

Both were QBs on well put together teams that won games despite their futility.

The Cowboys have a roster to compete, but the QB needs to be pulled. Jerry Jones will not committ to him long term regardless of what he said publicly.

His contract potential for 2018 was $23 million because of various incentives and if the Eagles keep him next year they will pay $20 million.

quote:

Friday, NFL Network reported the Eagles had agreed to a revised contract with Foles for the 2018 season that also includes a mutual option for 2019 that would allow him to hit the free agent market. Last year, Foles signed a two-year contract that would turn into a five-year deal if Foles remained on the Eagles' roster in February 2019.

Now, Foles will have the option to simply opt out and become a free agent, thus allowing him to pursue opportunities as a starting quarterback, if he so desires.

Per Ian Rapoport, Foles received a $2 million signing bonus and can earn several millions in incentives if he's the starter and hits various benchmarks. (UPDATE 4/21) Saturday, Rapoport reported that Foles can make up to $14 million in playing time, playoffs and Pro Bowl incentives. He's being paid a $3 million roster bonus, $2 million signing bonus and will earn a $4 million base salary in 2018.

Per Mike Garafolo, the mutual option allows the Eagles to pick up his 2019 salary ($20 million), but Foles can also opt for free agency by giving back the $2 million signing bonus he's receiving now as part of the restructuring of his contract.

Also, Foles can earn $250,000 for each game he plays (at a certain percentage of snaps) and that doubles to $500,000 if the Eagles win.

Not only does Foles get a $2 million raise for the 2018 season, he now has the potential to earn up to $23 million through a number of different incentives. You can read a complete breakdown of the contract here.

Outside of the new money, the Eagles and Foles now have a mutual option for the 2019 season. The Eagles have the option to keep Foles under contract for $20 million in 2019 if they want -- but Foles has the ability to buy his way out of the deal by paying back his new $2 million signing bonus he just got.

If he had gone the entire year without playing he would have made $9 million.

quote:

With Wentz likely to miss the final two weeks of the regular season, that means Foles is going to get a chance to seriously pad his bank account. Back in April, Foles restructured his contract with the Eagles and as part of the deal, Philly agreed to pay him a $250,000 bonus for every game where he took at least 33 percent of the snaps. The Eagles also agreed to tack on another $250,000 for any game that Philly won with Foles under center.

Basically, this means that Foles can rack up $500,000 in bonus money per week if he plays 33 percent of the snaps in a game AND the Eagles win. Under his contract, Foles makes $235,000 in base salary per week, so that's some serious bonus money.

Through 15 weeks this season, Foles has already earned $1.25 million in bonus money by winning two of this three starts, including Sunday's 30-23 upset over the Rams. If Foles starts the next two games and Philly wins them both, he'll earn another $1 million -- $500,000 for beating the Texans and $500,000 for beat the Redskins -- bringing his season total in bonus money up to $2.25 million. To put that in perspective, that total is more money than Dak Prescott and Deshaun Watson will make combined this year.

So to reiterate, Dak is going to get a mega deal.
