Just looked up their schedule, they average 2 ranked teams per regular season between 15-19. L. O. L.
And Dabo says it himself, he isn't in favor of paying players and even threatened to quit coaching college football if it became "professional" and kids were making bank.

But he didn't seem to address the actual question, maybe he didn't need to. But more to the point, even if Dab does deserve a pass or some time to have 1 bad season, being 4-4 100% falls on him, the coach, and not random fans. So no, the fans are not the problem. I would argue that he's been successful because the ACC has been pretty much trash for his entire tenure as HC. Only now the ACC actually has quite a few good teams in it this year specifically.
Hard to argue his recruiting prowess though. He just needs to change tactics and use the transfer portal like everyone else. He's letting his ego get Clemson behind in building their roster on the same level as the rest of the country.
