New Orleans’ world famous cuisine could draw McCarthy to the Saints gig.

Didn’t Dallas deny Chicago permission to speak with McCarthy just last week? Now they are letting him go, couldn’t they have held on to him for a little bit and then gotten compensatory picks for losing a coach?

His contract officially expired last week, but the Cowboys had a one week negotiating window built in.

McCarthy was in an odd situation, not allowed to talk to other teams, but also not under contract. I doubt any team would be willing to offer any type of compensation since they only had to wait seven days until he was completely free.

The Cowboys look bad here. They denied the Bears request to interview McCarthy, but it doesn’t appear they were doing much negotiating with him in the last week. Also, they haven’t been interviewing other coaches either.

Maybe serious talks have been taking place between the two sides, but reports are the Cowboys are just letting the clock run out before either side moves on.

It really seems like they were in negotiations like they say, but to me you either want the guy or you don't. What does he really have to say or put in his contract to convince you one way or the other?

My best guess is that McCarthy wanted longer term security and the Cowboys were going to have him going through this same mess again in 2-3 years (if he wasn't fired before then).

Jerry’s a terrible negotiator. Proven time and again the last few years. Operating by the seat of his pants

When Detroit ran up the score against Dallas this year calling trick plays up 30+ and shite, I thought at the time it was basically a job interview for Ben Johnson to Jerrah.

Basically "you better hire me dumbass"

You contradict yourself here. You can't say you either want the guy or not, and then say the terms in which you want the guy matters.

And if it did come to fruition…watch it be announced the day of Super Bowl.
