And who is going to stop these kids from celebrating? Doris and Ethel ushering people from section 121 to 122?

It won’t be 100% of the time, but 80% of the time a situation like this is avoidable by the losing team.

I think here the issue is that wake kids are already on the court before the clock hits 0.0. the duke kid shouldn't have done what he did but I don't think the "what is he doing out there" argument should exist in this case considering the games not over and the students are already on the court

I saw the overhead. To me it looks like he is protecting himself from contact and their knees hit.

To each their own. None of the other Duke players “protected” themselves that way and got hurt.

Hell no other college athlete ever “protected” themselves that way and got hurt.

The best solution would be to move the student section away from the opposing teams side of the court

Goodbye home court advantage.

Some Duke fan on Reddit is saying they saw him walk off the bus in Durham and he was walking fine.

In that situation, we’ve seen it before, coach K would have taken everyone off the court but 5 walk on type players.

Easy solution, be prepared! Unless it’s a last second shot, have the rope going across and force everyone the other direction.

I could see why teams wouldn't want it to happen with basketball because the court is so small and its pretty chaotic but football who cares the field is huge

But do you see the speed of which of which the fans are running on the court? That's just asking for someone to get hurt. Someone could literally get trampled very easily during the excitement of everything.

Maybe a student but not a player as shown by how easily the flopping Dukie bounced that guy out the way.

No shite. Just like when Caitlin was fine after she had to be dragged to the locker room hyperventilating.

It’s being banned soon. There’s been a pretty clear agenda against it in every ESPN broadcast I’ve watched recently. Another step to making college sports more stale.

They are running ribbon quotes on the bottom ticker on ESPN saying how unsafe the coaches and players feel and it needs to be banned now after Duke guy got hurt apparently. Seems like WF has ruined it for everybody

Did that happen before or after the fan contacted and injured him? Cause if it was after, I don't blame him one bit. Lucky that's all that happened and his entire team wasn't fighting fans as, IMO, it would have been self defense at that point.

It's banned in the SEC and that still doesn't stop it. You can't stop 1,000 people rushing the court all at once without going to extreme security measures nobody would want to see

I know that sounds dumb as shite on an individual student level but it’s past time to end storming fields.

Cool, remove another item and further sterilize the college game even more.

Seems like Duke basketball and Alabama football are the only teams that try to fight opposing fans with they rush the court/field.
