Not one single aspect

We were able to do bullshite MMA fights when we were deployed once every couple of months. So after work we'd hit the gym workout and grapple on the mats a bit. Alot of it is wrestling, and although it's one of the most beast workouts you'll ever get. It's wasn't "hard" if that makes sense.

No, just no. Of common sports, shite you'd think off right off your head, i'd say baseball is the hardest sport in the world.

Failing 3/10 times at it gets you a MLB contract and 15 million a year.

A 95 mph fastball gets to the plate in like .4 seconds. Two of those and then a 82 mph ball that is spinning and curving like crazy...yeah average joe go hit that. I am more confident that I could find some big arse country bumpkin redneck that can wrestle way before I could find someone off the streets to hit a 100 MPH Verlander fast ball.

there is so much fricking idiocy in this thread it isn't even funny. Baseball is in no way shape or form 1/10th as physically demanding as wrestling.

Absolutely not. The OC does have a minimum performance threshold for competing even these small countries. So if one does qualify for the Olympics, you are a world class athlete already or close to it

And wrestling is no where near as physically demanding as numerous other sports.

This. A friend if mine who actually made it to the Olympics throwing the javelin won a qualifying meet but his throw didn't meet the qualifying distance for the Olympics so he had to throw at another meet.

He said hardest. Hitting a major leagues top pitcher is harder than wrestling. Anyways, wrestling is not the most physically demanding either.

I wish i dedicated myself to one particular sport that offered me a
Realistic shot at competing in the Olympics.

Not that I want a gold medal but more that I wanted the free trip and the awesome parties.

I think I could make the curling team with a week or two of practice.

Soccer would have been my best bet. I was pretty quick and could play either LB or LM/LW. Had a pretty good left foot cross. Stamina would be my biggest issue. Could have made a good sub at about the 60-70th minute.

ETA: Especially considering soccer is U21 or 23 in the Olympics.

Somebody needs to post that video of the swimmer from Africa that was on here a few weeks ago. i think most decently athletic people with a little training could qualify for some of those countries.

Well, it's pretty obvious not many people here wrestled in high school. That shite sucked. Three two-minute periods completely exhausts you. I ran the 400 in track but wrestling season was when I was in my peak conditioning (minus the weight-cutting). Three hour wrestling practices made track practice seem like a joke. Olympic and college wrestling just looks a lot easier because those frickers are so good at countering any offensive moves that it can take a while for any action to happen.

I'd be a star on the Cook Islands- the smallest team in the London 2012 games
