In high school, I could've outrun that Bolt guy. He doesn't look so fast. I'm a little older now, so he might have the edge.

I could make a backup slot on a team sport like basketball or handball. If the country were small enough, of course, and we were expected to get blown out.
With proper training and resources, I honestly think I could have made a push for track cycling when I was younger (I'm currently old). I might have been able to be a bobsled pusher, too.

I couldn't, but I bet a bunch of the OB guys could shoot archery for some shitty country. That's probably the closest we have to Olympians on this site.

I'd definitely compete in curling.

What is idiotic about wrestling being significantly more physically demanding than baseball?
It IS idiotic that some random message board poster thinks he could somehow put himself in position to qualify for the Olympics in any sport. You still have to qualify for the games. Just because you go to the French Polynesia Olympic committee and say you can wrestle doesn't get you a spot in the games. You'd still have to prove it in other tournaments etc.
And what the hell does Verlander fastball have to do with the Olympic games?

Ban bet, please find where anyone in this thread said Baseball was more physically demanding than wrestling.
This whole baseball vs. wrestling got started when the guy said wrestling is the hardest sport in the world, not the most physically demanding. Hardest. I thereafter said baseball is harder, not more physically demanding.
After this all you came in talking about how we were idiotic, while you had no idea what the frick you were talking about, as noone had said baseball is more physically demanding. This led to my irony comment, you telling us we're idiots, while having no idea what you were talking about.

Is ping pong really an Olympic sport?
Posted on 5/7/13 at 10:36 am to Mizzoufan26
Dude I said it was idiotic that someone thinks they could just make an Olympic team. For example you said you could make the Iraq wrestling team.
Let's say Iraq gives you a shot at being on their national team with absolutely no competition whatsoever. To make the Olympic team and actually qualify you would then have to achieve a certain place in the regional qualifier against countries like Armenia and Iran where you would be made to look like a silly little bitch... In the opening round. Therefore no Olympic team for you.
Eta:I see how my original post may have been confusing. It was really just 2 separate thoughts regarding this thread.
In regards to qualifying for the Olympics it would definitely be easier to qualify in a team sport in a less populated part of the world as a substitute /backup than a taxing individual sport like wrestling, boxing, or track.

Hitting a baseball is the hardest thing to do in sports. Wrestling is more physically demanding than baseball, but that does not mean it is harder.
Baseball is no longer an olympic sport and wrestling wont be after the 2016 games. Move along.

I don't want to get in the middle of your jousting match, but I think "the guy" knows a thing or two about wrestling. If anyone would know on this board, it would be him. Don't be so quick to brush him off as just another blow hard.

I never attempted to discount his wrestling knowledge, or anyone else's knowledge of anything. Furthermore, it's not something I care much about. I know about Air Evacuation, what does that mean to you? Absolutely nothing. Just like general wrestling knowledge doesn't mean much to me.

I think I could make the curling team with a week or two of practice.
I've thought that this would be my chance too. Some really small country with a curling team. Just drop everything and practice all day for a few weeks. I'd have to learn the rules first though

IIRC, they give one or two exceptions/country for swimming if you haven't had anyone actually qualify.
