Cubs fans who aren't from Illinois are nothing but pure bandwagoning hipsters imho.

The world would end before there's a winner.

Yeah, because Louisiana has been in the Major Leagues since when?
My childhood pastor was the biggest Cubs' fan you would have ever seen. In the 1970s he would drive from Marrero to his brother's house in Golden Meadow on a Sunday afternoon to watch the Cubs.

He'd supported them since the late 1920s Hipster bandwagoners, indeed.

But do you know why he became a Cub fan? At least Louisiana is geographically close to Houston, and since we don't have our own major league franchise, I've been an Astros fan all of my life.

Why does it matter? So being geographically close to the next state where a baseball team calls home is your reason for being an Astros fan? What a shitty reason...

I'm a Cub fan because I fricking love the Cubs.

What about northwestern indiana...sometimes referred to as the chicago-land area.

What if you're from illinois but the southern part, much closer to st. louis.

Just trying to understand this geographical anomaly that dictates fandom.

I'm sure WGN showing Cubs games when that was the only baseball you could watch had something to do with Cubs fans back in the day. I have a buddy who got started with them that way.
